Place dining table next to main entrance? OK? Would you believe it is plain common sense!

Question: Instead of placing my dining table at the purple marking "A"; Can I place my dining table at marking "B", instead i.e. facing the main door.

Repy:

In my opinion, this has more to do with common sense than Feng Shui. Or rather, call it commonsense Feng Shui:-

1. When we walk into a home; our eyes are usually focused on our immediate surroundings.

1.1. Thus, I am sure, one of the first few things a visitor would see is the dining table - if it is placed a purple marking "B".

1.2. Imagine, for some people, they have a habit of pilling lots of things on their dining table. I have even seen some homes with old generation handphones, their plugs and books piled up high on their dining table. What sort of impression one gets, here?

1.3. This means that it is preferred to place a partition between the dining table and front door. But often, many such (fixed) partition walls have openings for display and the dining table is still some what visible.

1.4. If one does not have a partition; often, if the main entrance door is ajar or partially opened; outsiders or neighbours could easily see the family having a meal. (More to do with personal privacy) - as for the Chinese it is not nice to show "our food" to outsiders. And often, some would ask their regular neighbour: "What to join us?"
