Hello Master Lee, Thank you in advance for your help. My question relates to the position of the garage relative to the house. As far as I understand it is better to have the garage detached from the main house and set back from the front of the house / front door. However, my mother has this set up and nobody (neither people living there nor visitors) ever uses the front door of the house. Everybody enters the house via the side door or backdoor / laundry room door which is near the garage, driveway and parking area. We live in Canberra, Australia where it gets very cold and people want to get into the house as quickly as possible especially if carrying groceries or other stuff into the house. I am thinking about designing my own house and want to avoid feng shui problems in relation to the position of the garage and failure to use the front door of the house. My question is, could it be suitable to put two separate double garages in front and perpendicular to the main house (one on the right and one on the left) with a motor court in the middle? In this way I see us still using the front door and viewing the front of the house rather than entering / viewing the house on the side. See example photo / floor plan showing this type of concept here: http://www.architecturaldesigns.com/exclusive-house-plan-33541eb.asp The other idea I had was to do something similar, that is, to still have two separate garages in front to and perpendicular to the house ( one on the left and one on the right), but in this case have the garage doors facing the side (not the center motor court). This way the garages would still be in the front and we could put a door that would take us to the center courtyard and then through to the front door.
