Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I really have problem identifying the centrepoint of my new odd-shape house and needless to say to draw out the 8-house sectors. Can you please help me so that I can move on to do the necessary arrangement please.............. For odd-shaped house, there are a few ways to determine it. It is hard to advise you without seeing your actual layout. However, this link in Step 5 does show you some way to determine your center point. Dear Maxx Ha, maxx ha wrote: My kua is 3 and my house is facing west. House period is 8. According to my kua, my house should not face west. What can I do to solve this problem. Unfortunately, your Kua determines your house suitability. So it tells you whether you will be able to benefit from staying in the house or not. So there isn't really anything you can do to make it suit you except to move to another more suitable facing house in the future. That is why when you first hunt for a house, choosing a good direction that is both suitable to you as well as having a good feng shui luck is important. In your case, as an East group person, a South or East facing would probably be better for two reasons. South (Prosperity) and East (Excellent) would be suitable to you. Also under the flying star South and East facing have the possibility of activating the double 8 if your house layout especially if that direction contains the frontage/living room area. However, after you bought the place, it won't be possible to fix the suitability problem. You can only attempt to enhance other area such as the flying star of the house etc to offset the unsuitability problem. maxx ha wrote: I am confuse about the kua wealth direction(South) and flying star wealth direction(east). Which direction I should follow? Generally, Eight House tells you your suitability to the house. If a house suits you, that means that you will be able to enjoy most luck from the house. However, Flying Star tells you how is the luck of the house itself. This means that your luck may be significantly enhanced if you have a house that has excellent feng shui. So both are equally important. You just need to know how to balance between the two concepts. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My front door is alligned with my back door. What should I do to cure this? The front door is a double door but the back door is only a single door. Generally, when you door opens out to a back door or a window on the opposite side of the house. The solution to fix it is pretty simple. Simply have a partition or screen between the door to allow the Qi to circulate around the Qi. Dear Anon, Anon wrote: My bedroom is located in the NorthWest-West area of my house. My bed is in the perfect spot within the bedroom, but once you open the bedroom door it faces a toilet door. Generally, anything that faces the toilet door isn't auspicious. Especially, if you can see the toilet bowl when the toilet door is opened. There are usually only two ways to solve it:- 1. The most practical, is try to keep the toilet door closed. Also, keeping the toilet seat cover down when not in used is also a good open. 2. The other is to have some kind of screen/partition between your room and the toilet. In feng shui, when you can no longer see the threat it no longer becomes a problem. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I'm new here and hope to get further explanation pertaining to my feng shui report on my apartment number. My apt is: Blk 101-17-4, year building was built estimated in 1999/2000. The '81 Interpretation' analysis stated as 5 + 1 = illness & sickness. How does the 81 interpretation arrived at such analysis. So far for the 4 years of staying in my apt, there has been no major illnesses for me & my husband. No doubt, my daughter would experience minor sickness which is common for all small children. I keyed in '17-04' as the flat no.Did I key in the correct flat no.? Would really appreciate your expert input on this matter. Frankly, the auspicious house number only tells you whether a house number is auspicious or not. This analysis is based on the flying star chart, which is why there is the 81 unique interpretation such as 5+1 = illness & sickness. However, like I mentioned, all it really signify is whether your house number is considered auspicious or not. In this, case it is not auspicious. This concept came about because assuming the flat layout is the same, under the feng shui, it is said that the different apartment on different levels will have different luck. So basically say 17-04 and 16-04, they will have similiar flying star house luck but one may be better then the other depending on the house number. So you only need to be concerned about this concept when you are choosing a house number. As for the interpretation, you won't have illness unless that flying star house chart indicates that the sector has illness star. So any problems with the house depends a lot on the layout of the house and how the flying star chart affects the house. So basically, you just need to know that for another layout maybe higher or lower floor than your current level, might be better or worst. That is all. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I heard from my friend that since i have a Chye, 'cai ', in my name, i should display the word 'cai ' at home. I was told that the 'cai' is to be placed upside down, paste on the wall. Then put a vaseor container with some coins inside and place iton the floor under the 'cai '. This will help to generate wealth for me? Is it true? Please advise me on my wealth location. Thanks. Frankly, this isn't correct. Whatever meaning your name has, can't be activated by placing something in your home. The meaning in your name is only so call 'activated' when people call your name. It is not activated by any other means. That is why when most people choose names, they want to have certain meaning so that when people call it, it is like blessing that person with the meaning. So the more people call you by your name, the more luck you get from that name. There is really no other ways to activate it. In terms of feng shui luck, a person's luck is influenced by 3 factors:- 1. Heaven Luck - Luck that you are supposed to be born with. 2. Earth Luck - Luck from your home and surrounding environment. 3. Human Luck - Luck from your relationship with other people and your own hard work. These are the ways a person luck is affected. There is really nothing about luck that is activated by your existing name. Of course, if you have cai in your name, the more people call you more wealth you are blessed with. That is about all. The rest depends on the luck of your home etc. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Johannes Nugroho, Johannes Nugroho wrote: I am currently having a house built. The house will probably be finished by the end of the year. It faces northwest. I plan to have a fountain to the right of the main door, with the main statue in the fountain facing southwest, which is supposed to be one of my good directions. But then I read somewhere that the northwest sector is bad for any water feature. Is this true? I am a snake born in 1977. Thank you. Frankly, never just follow an advise or tip that you read elsewhere, unless you understand and/or applied the various tools available to personalised the analysis to your home. I mean why a certain say NW should not have any water can be due to so many factors. Different house facing will have different flying star for each sector. One reason why NW may not be good to have water, if there are bad stars there that may be enhanced by water. For installing water feature in your home, you should always make sure you have assess your home with the flying star chart. Ensure that the frontage is the right sector that contains the auspicious water star. For a period 8 house for example, if your front of the house contains a star8 (current prosperity) /9 (future prosperity) /1 (future future prosperity), then it is advantages tohave a water feature there. It does not mean that just because sayyour front of the housefalls in your Eight House prosperity sector or that the house element is auspicious, then you just simplyput a water feature in hope to activate thewealth luck. So you need to reallyneed to know that it is the correctsectorthen you activate that sector. Otherwise, it won't help. In this case, you need to ensure that there is an auspicious star at the front of the house with the flying star chart, then you activate it. You can make use of the free report in our member area to check it:- URL: http://login.geomancy.net If you are not sure, then you better get someone professional to assess your home and then they can tell you whether or not is is good to place water feature there. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: 1) Under the section on Summary of Elements (ie Elements Weighting), no weighting was given to WATER whereas the 4 Pillar chart shows that there is ONE WATER element.. Also, I think there should be3 EARTH elements (per chart) and not 4 per Summary.. Is there an error in the demo report or have I misunderstood something? Determining the true element, means you have to also consider the combinations and clashes. Some pillars combine to form different elements. So sometimes even if your original chart have the water, but after combining with another element, it may lose the original element. In the case of this chart, the Water element was converted to Earth element. So the original water is no longer present. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with the report. It is just that there were much more factors considered then just a basic count of the five elements. Anonymous wrote: 2) As a separate question,IF this Demo Male has no Water element shownon the face of his 4 pillar chart, but if there isHIDDEN element, eg Water element formed by the combination of Yang Fire+ Yin Metal, will this hidden Water element be counted and weighted as much as if it is clearly indicated in the chart? In another words,if this hidden Water elementcanbeincluded to"balance" his chart, can we sayhis chartis no longer lacking in WATER (though weighting needs to be increased to achieve better balance)? Hidden elements are often not considered as part of the original element. As it is, it is already sometimes difficult to count all the main elements. To add in the hidden element changes would make it even more complicated and often, the hidden element only are present when certain factors occurs. So normally we do not include the hidden element as part of the tabulation of the original five element percentage. It is used more in the luck pillars analysis. Anonymous wrote: 3)Resulting from the abovequestion, ifheis no longer lacking in Water, can Waterbe stillconsidered his Most favourite element? This will depend on the percentage. We normally go by firstly what element you are. For example, Strong water would mean:- A person generally have too much metal and water. Thus, he is strong. So anything that helps to keep him in check is favourable. So Wood, Fire and Earth are generally the more favourable elements. After that, we use the percentage to determine which is more important. Say Wood 10%, Fire 5% and Earth 33%. This means that the most favourable is Fire, followed by Wood. Earth which is 33% is too much so a person won't benefit if he adds more Earth compared to Fire and Wood. However, adding Earth is still the favourable element, just that won't benefit as much compared to Fire or Wood. Thus, whether or not the water is favourable, depends on the percentage available. Anonymous wrote: 4) As a general question, are hidden elements morepowerful than the obvious ones? Not really. We use the hidden element usually more for the characteristic analysis rather then for the element itself. That is why we normally do not consider hidden element as part of the five element percentage. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear C L, c l wrote: I didn't think daylight savings is the same as timezone. So are you advising me that I should use daylight savings time? If you are referring to daylight savings, then yes it would probably be slightly different from timezone. Given that whenbazi was first invented, there isn't any such issues. So really, there is no one who can also say for sure what would be right or wrong. I have done research on the timezone portion but not on the daylight savings. So not able to comment much on this as well. But in my opinion, the localtime that you use should be the one you should attempt to assess your ba zi with. Generally, railways can pretty much be a sha qi depending on how the track cuts into the house. Even if it does not cut into the house, the common sense approach is that trains tend to be noisy. So noise is also another form of sha qi. So either way, if a railway track is too closed, then yes it isn't that ideal. Especially if you are staying in flats that are low floor (which will be closest to the track and noise. Higher floor may still not be as bad. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I would like to know if there's a cureI can use in my daughter's room. The back of her study desk is against a wall which has a toilet on the other side(her bathroom is on the room next door). I cannot place her desk any where else in the room. Can I place something on or behind her desk to help with this. I want her to get the most energy to help her study and not feel drained out. Given that you can't place the desk elsewhere, there is nothing much you can really do to remove the draining effect. The most impact is when the toilet bowl is at the opposite side of the wall. Otherwise, the impact won't be as bad. So I would suggest these few things to do:- 1. Normally, when there is a toilet at the center of the house for example where wealth is drain, a solution is to buy a bottle gourd to attempt to suck the wealth before it leaks out. This may help to retain some of her energy other then attempting to make sure that the toilet bowl is covered when not in used. 2. The other is to make the room more suitable to her element she lack. For example, a weak wood person would like water (blue/black/gray). So if the room has more of these decor colour. This will also improve her luck to reduce the problem. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Recently I buy a new car with 9984 as the number plate and White as the car colour. Just want to enquire is this set of numbers and car colour both favourable for me? White colour is normally defined as Metal element. As a weak waer person, metalis a favourable colour for you. As for the car number question, there isn't a feng shui analysis for car number. Under feng shui, normally two methods are used:- 1.While there are numerous way to determine how auspicious a number. For example, most will go by sounding of the number 9984 (jiu jiu fa si - longevity longevity prosperty death). Theother numbers all would be ok except for maybe the 4 which sounds like death in cantonese. 2. Others is to determine whether this si an auspicious gua number or not. http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports-list/perlist-eight-gua-number.htm ie 9984 = 9+9+8+4 = 30 = 3+0 = 3 If your gua is 3, then this is considered a favourable number for you. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: 1) how to calculateweightings and strengths (in %) of the 5 elements from the 4 pillar chart so that one knows which element is required more than the others in order to achieve a good balance? You need to consider how manyelements are present in the chart after you consider all the combinations and changes (whichis permanent which is not), the element strength weightage factor, and the total five elements available. With that, you should be able to calculate a percentage breakdown. As these are not easy to tabulate, we already provided them in oout paid ba zi reports so there is no need to waste time to calculate it manually. So the simple way iscount all the number of elements present and total element. Then divide it so that you get a percentage. Of course, it won't be as accurate if you do not factor in the element strengthen and the combinations and clashes occuring. So if there are 4 earth out of 12 elements. It should be about 33%. Anonymous wrote: 2) When analysing the relationship of the self element with other elements in the 4 pillar chart, does one always take into account the Strength or Weakness of the self element? Anonymous wrote: eg. If self element is Strong Fire, and the Day pillar branch isWood (spouse), does this mean that the spouse is destructive to self because self element is already Strong? Or do weignorethe strength or weakness of the elements and just look at the normal relationshipcycle ie, Woodis good for fire as it produces fire here? We normally take the final element strengthen then relate the relationship pillar to that. So like you gave Strong Fire person, the day pillar is Wood. Wood will make Strong fire too strong. Therefore, it is more likely the relationship with the Spouse may not be as smooth as one hope to be. Other factor such as horoscope of two persons to compare as well as ba zi comparison between two pillars. That will give more information about a relationship. The rest will be the human luck factor. Dear John, john lee wrote: What's your advice for residences near the sea. For eg, Jalan Loyang Besar (across Pasir Ris Park)? Fengshui wise and 'common sense' viewpoint in light of a possible big quake/tsunami? Thanks Generally, under feng shui four symoblic animal concept. A house is always good to have water or clear space at the frontage. While the back of the house should be supported by a mountain. So if you do not consider any other factors (such as flying star, or house facing suitability etc). Then any house that you can have water frontage is always deemed a good choice. However, as you mentioned, recently the problem of a sea frontage is possibility of natural disasters. Given that it is hard to predict when natural disaster will happen. So if you want to avoid earthquakes, then choose a non-reclaimed land or land where thesoil is much harder. Or if you want to avoid tsunami, then avoid sea front property that isn't sheltered by islands or anything that can act as a barrier between the open seas and your property. Or simply ensure that there arediasasterprevention to minimise it. If you considered all the factors, then a sea front property isn't all an issue. Hope that helps. Dear C L, c l wrote: If you were born on a day with daylight savings applied (+1 hour), do I need to minus 1 hour when entering my birth date so that it is removed? E.g if I was born at 12.30am on 2 Nov with daylight savings on. Do I enter my birth date to be 1 Nov or 2 Nov? This is a topic that we have covered many times already. 1. The only true way to apply the timezone factor is through applying the long. and lat. of birth into the ba zi analysis. However, realistically, how many people really record the exact long. and lat. of birth? Very few, i am afraid. 2. GMT timezone difference is a very bad way to apply location factor, as it only considers one of the factor. Furthermore, GMT timezone has been simplified. So again, this makes using adjusting GMT time different less accurate. 3. Also, even a degree of error in your place of birth will likely make your chart less accurate than without this information. For examaple, even if one knows the hospital he/she was born in. The exact room in which he/she is born also gives different long. and lat. So how is one going to be sure the place where you are born is correct? 4. Furthermore, if you know how ba zi chart really works, the hour pillar really does not affect much of your luck forecast. As the luck forecast is comes more from the month pillar/year pillar. So essentially, even if your hour pillar is removed, the fundamental analysis still won't differ a great deal. It does help in determining your five element percentage and house of life pillar. So any differences is usually because your element was determined to be weak or strong. Fundamentally, the luck forecast won't change that significantly. That is why even if you do not provide the hour, a fairly accurate forecast can still be deduced. 5. Ba Zi is only meant to deduced the type of heaven luck (given luck) that you are supposed to have. When is up and downs for you. It does not really give you an accurate prediction of what had happened. This is because a person's luck is influenced by 3 types of luck:- a) Heaven Luck - Luck that you are born with. b) Earth Luck - Luck from your home and surrounding c) Human Luck - Luck from your relationship with other people and your own hard work. So even if a chart shows that your luck is very good for a year, but because your earth luck and human luck is bad for you, your luck would not be as good as what was predicted. So really, the ba zi only helps to show you in a very formatted why how your chart is balanced and how you can try to adjust your life to maximise the luck. The rest depends on your earth and human luck influence. 6. Feng Shui is designed in such a way that it has many fail safe and ways to counter check each theories flaws. As long as you apply all the available feng shui tools, each analysis will accurate help to re-enforce the other analysis and reduce any of the flaws of each concept. That is why is is more important to apply as many theories to give you a complete assessment rather than just depend on one concept. That is why because of all the reasons above we normally advise users to just make use of your localtime. No adjustment of timezone is necessary. If really unsure, leaving it hour unknown is sometimes a better choice than trying to adjust the time which is more likely to create additional factor of inaccuracy. So just use your localtime do not make any changes for any of our website tools. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Aaron, Aaron Ng wrote: I noticed that one of your Earth Luck articles says that a common leak is due to the toilet being near the centre of the flat. This is a rather common now-a-days unfortunately. However, what you should also consider is that this is just one of the flaws available. A house is likely to have some flaws as it is almost difficult to find one without a single flaw (even if you build it yourself). So as long as:- 1. The toilet is not directly at the center point, it should still be ok.If this is the case, try to keep the toilet seat cover and toilet door closed when not in use. Also, another way is try to trap the wealth before it leaks buy hanging a chinese luhu (bottle gourd) to attempt to symoblically trap the wealth before it leaks out. 2. There should not be other critical flaws available to add to your negative aspect when evaluating a house. Usually a bad feng shui house is where there are many major flaws present. Many major flaws together will normally create problems. If only one flaw, and other areas are still good. Then not a major issue. So as long as there isn't too many other major flaws, and you follow the advise in point 1, should still be ok especially if there is no other choices available. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi, I've always thought fire destroys metal. Why would it bea binding element? Could you explain what the report below means in terms of compatibility? How would I reduce conflicts? And are the clashes significant? Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks so much! Comparing Birth Elements- VS The binding elements to get the two parties to be compatible or reduce conflict is Fire. Analysis of Earthly Branches Clashes for the two charts:- Earthly Branch Clash between day pillar (si) & hour pillar (hai). Yes, you are correct that fire destroy metal. Every element has two state. ie a weak and strong. If a weak Metal, fire will make weak metal weaker. However, as a Strong Metal, it means that you have too much Earth and Metal which is why you are strong. So Fire is one of the element to exhaust the excess metal so that you become more balanced. Water is also another way to exhaust the excess Strong Metal. Given, it is compatibility between two persons, to the element must be common to both person. Water may be good for Strong Metal, but it will weaken weak Fire person. Thus, Fire is the recommended binding element to help smoothen relation in this case. In general, if you based only on the five element compatibility. Weak Fire and Strong Metal is a particularly good for the Strong Metal person. To make the relationship even more harmonious, additional Fire will help. Wood is also another possible element good for both person. There is a clash between the two chart, but it is considered minor clash. So that just means that there may still be some occassional conflicts between the two. However, as long as you adopt a give an take approach, you should be able to minimise any major conflicts. The other compatibility to check is the horoscope sign. If there is no further incompatibility between the horoscope, the comparison is deemed to be pretty compatible with minor conflicts. Hope that helps. That is when you view it from the top view, it looks like the missing corner is covered. Generally, you can't correct a missing plot of land. Anyway, even if the plot of land is odd, as long as your house isn't odd shaped or missing, it should be fine. Hope that helps. Dear Sarosh, Sarosh B wrote: 1)Do I have to calculate FS room wise ordirectly of the entire home.If I have to do FSdirectly of entire home then I have a problem because my Kitchen is outside. From our Building entry, we have a Common passage leading to stairs. On the left hand side of the passage, we have our Home Main door and on the right hand side of passage the Kitchen. What to do in this situation...? Sorry, I don't understand one point here. You mean the kitchen is located apart from your house layout? Is there any other apartment sharing the same passage way? This is quite an odd setup or layout. Generally, we normally will take the main door given you are staying in am apartment with other people occupying other units. But if say the entry of the door and passage way leading to your main door does not contain entrance to other house, then you can consider then entry building as your main door to have the kichen included in your flying star assessment. Otherwise, if there are still other appartment sharing the passage, then you will have to exclude the kitchen from being part your partment as it appears to be separated from the house. Sarosh B wrote: 2) From the Home map attached, can you pleas tell me which is Home Facing direction as per FS...? Given it is am apartment, the norm is to take the main door facing. As mentioned, if the passage contains entrance to other units, then you have to exclude the kitchen from any flying star assessment. Sarosh B wrote: 3) I wanted to keep an aquarium in my living room and after seeing your reply to earlier postsI know that I have to calculate and interpret the Flying star theory, but does this mean I will have to change the location of my aquarium every Chinese Year....?Also my Building was built in period 3 so do I have to use that period...? Generally, the flying star chart is worked using the 20-year chart. So the water position we try to identify is the more long term water position. So there is no need to change the location every year. This is not practical. As for your building period. Generally, for a building that old, the chance of luck flying over to more recent period due to renovation is very high. So probably the best advise is to try to fly the house to new luck period irregardless so that you can better take advantage of the period 8 chart without worries that the chart was oritginally in what period. A symbolic flying star change over is done with symoblically painting the entire house (especially the ceiling all in one go). Then having at least 3 major celebrations in the house. This fly over will change slower than a major renovation, but at least you do not need to worry too much about which older period the house is based on. So you can focus on welcoming the new period 8 Qi and activating the current wealth luck positions. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
