Dear Gray Thay, Gary Thay wrote: I brought HDB unit in period 7 and I painted all the Ceiling in 2004, does that put my unit into Period 8 ? The problem here is that painting all the ceiling is only a symbolic action in order to attempt to emulate a major renovation of removing the roof of a house. So itisn't truly a major renovation. So it will take time (sometimes 1 year) for your house Qito convert to the period 8. Usually, if you want to expedite the change, you may need to have a few major celebrations in the house to attempt to quicken the change over to the new period. Hope that helps. Dear Sophie, sophie corcoran wrote: me and my boyfriend are both west/metal group people but i have recently realised the house we are having built is a fire house (front door faces north/northwest). sophie corcoran wrote: will this be a problem? Firstly, you have to determine the facing of the house. A Fire house is a house that facese South actually. North facing house is Water house, while North-West is Metal house. Whether or not it is big issue depends on the suitability based onyou and your boyfriend'sthe Eight House and Ba Zi. ie. for Eight House as long as the facing direction is not Death or Disaster especially for the breadwinner, then it is ok. Spook or Irritation though also not as good but not as bad. ie. for the Ba Zi as long as the direction is one of your favourable element. Even if this is not so favourable, a person can enhance his or her ba zi by other method (ie career, colour etc). ie. Of course the best direction is one where both eight house and ba zi direction are favourable. It is often not possible to have the house both suitable to breadwinner and spouse simply unless both have similiar eight house suitability. So priority is the breadwinner must be suitable to the house. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Mei Yee, mei yee wrote: I am a single owner of a flat and my litchen in the flat is in the SE ans S which are my favarable directions, including N. However, i learned that the stove should be located in one of the bad directions of the 'spouse' and face the good direction. Before answering your questions, I would just like to point out a few issues. Ideally, it is nice if everything can be perfect. However, in reality, not everything can be placed in such a way that everything is auspicious under the various feng shui concepts. This is virtually impossible unless you custom build your home from scratch. Thus, you must understand that that in feng shui there are major and minor issues. What is important is to correct and fix up all major issues. The rest which is termed as minor issues, there is no real issue if you place it here or there. Especially smaller everyday used items. These you should place wherever is most practical for you to use, rather than based on feng shui placement. You should always attempt to position or place furnitures to the best of what you can do. When it is impossible or no choice, then you just have to make with the best and most practical arrangement. mei yee wrote: I have a problem, when i place the stove against the wall to movecloser to the NW and the mouth of the stove faces SE, behind the wall is mybed and i cant put it anywhere else because that's the best position since my bedroom is in the NW / Nof the flat and the head points SE. Like you mentioned, since there is no other way, then it will have to do. Anyway, the most important thing in a home is:- A.Suitability of the house to the breadwinner. B. Favourable Bedroom for the breadwinner, spouse and other family members. C. Kitchen and other key rooms like Study or Office room. As long as the house is favourable to the breadwinner, and the bedroom is also suitable to the family members, the rest of the room even not so suitable or favourable is perfectly ok. You need to focus on what is important and prioritise what should be given the best. Of course it is ideal if your kitchen can be located in the best sector especially for the main person who cooks there, but sometimes this is not possible. There are only a few good and bad sectors for every person. So as long as the key areas are given best suitability, it is perfectly ok that the other rooms are less auspicious etc. In most apartment especially in Singapore, a stove and sink are two areas not possible to be corrected or moved due the position of the piping etc. But as mentioned, these areas in the home where if you can have it in the better direction of course it will be better, but if not it will not create too much of a problem as well. Otherwise, everyone in singapore who has a bad stove position will be facing problems. So place it the most practical sector for use. What is more important would then be like where you place the moveable objects(ie. fridgeshould not face the stove directly if possible else there is a clash between water and stove etc). mei yee wrote: If i create an island stove so that it's mouth can still face the SE, is it sitting closer to NW? Please advice, im really lost. Frankly, in most kitchen layout, the better layout is always to avoid island type of design. For two practical reasons. If you have an island type of design, the likelyhood is the sink will be located on the opposite side of the island. One danger is where you have kids, and often you need to bring a hot pan over to the kitchen sink which is 180 degree behind. You may bumb into your kids and scale them. In addition, you will have a scenario where the sink is located opposite of the stove and that is like water and fire clashing. Thus, the most practical is always have the stove and sink at 90 degrees of each other for small kitchen especially. mei yee wrote: What about rice cooker or electrical appliances, where is the 'mouth'? mei yee wrote: i hears that the mouth for electrical appliances like rice cooker, microwave, conventional oven, electric multi cooker, even toaster are at the plug of the gadget is that right? As mentioned, these have small impact towards you whether you place it in this direction or another. So really, better to place them where it is easy & practical for you to use. Hope that helps. Dear Lisa, Lisa Pirkkala wrote: I am really enjoying your site and use it frequently, even for friends. I need some information to clear up confusion. I use the east/west system and take my compass readings from the inside looking out. I have been drawing up different charts, as I think my real facing direction is actually east as that is where my big picture window and deck face, whereas in my condo complex my front door is actually 270 d west and enter into a small hallway above a staircase...should I try both templates? or do I use just the direction my front door faces, with me standing inside my condo looking out? Or do I stand in my sliding glass door in the back of my condo facing east that overlooks my most unencumbered view? Firstly, you should attempt to determine which is your house facing direction. 1. For landed property (ie bungalow/semi-bungalow/terrace), it is best to take the facing direction of your home itself. 2. For Apartment (2nd-7th Level), take the main door direction. ie stand inside your house at the main door looking outwards. 3. For Apartment (8th level and up), take the balcony or living room. ie inside your home looking outside the balcony. Since yours is a condo. Therefore, determine whether it falls under 2 or 3. Any thing above 7th level is considered to have unblock view from the balcony as such we always considered having clear space or virtual water. Lisa Pirkkala wrote: The other confusion is this: I have several books on Feng Shui, (Lillian Too, Larry Sang, etc. Ido not use any BTBFeng Shui)and there are conflicting views on where exactly to take compass readings. Some show that you should be outside, facing your front door for the reading. That would put the compass shot directly opposite. Also, the House Trigram formula...shows sitting direction and facing directions in direct conflict with compass east/west sitting and facing direction. How do I know if I have a Dui house as opposed to a Chen house? And is the compass east/west system just for my personal directions, or is it for my home too? Could you please explain the difference. I want to start applying Flying Star Feng Shui to my home, and I want to make sure I have the right formula to use mountain and water stars in different sectors. Frankly, there are many types of facing and direction so I cansay that most method are essentially correct. 1. Taking the main door from the centerpoint to main door. This kind of assessment is practical for assessing the flying star for the interior of the house only. The good thing about this is the sector of the main door falls the same as the facing direction. 2. Taking the main door direction standing at the main door. This assesment is good for apartment, but mostly for lower floors or where the door isn't located at odd directions (of which balcony or living room direction would be better). 3. Taking the balcony/living room direction standing at the balcony. This assesment is good in general for most apartment especially on higher floor where the Qi flow will be unblocked from the balcony direction. 4. Taking the facing direction from the main entrance of the building. This assessment is for assessing the feng shui luck for the entire building. 5. Taking the facing direction from the entrance of a plot of land. This assessment is for assessing the feng shui luck for the entire plot of land that the entire development is built on. So you see, there can be different facings depending on what is needed to be assess. There can be micro assessment only within the room within an apartment, apartment within a building. Macro assessment is for like the block of building within a development, plot of land within an area, or North sector of a country, or a country withinthe world. Often, the most important luck from a home comes more from the External shapes and form. How good or bad a feng shui of the house depends a lot from the external surrounding. So that is often the most important. When assessing the flying star of a home itself, it is just to balance up the sector especially the inauspicious sector, and attempting to activate the wealth luck to boost up your luck. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Maria, maria cutrona wrote: Thanks For the information! My kua number is 7. Does it make a difference if the lot # is 7? Since this is my address and I am a West person, and my house door will be facing the West. I am now planning to pick out a house plan using the feng shui and the information that is given to me by geomancy. As mentioned, one way to check suitability is whether is is your Kua number. If 7 is also your kua number, then I would say that it is a suitable number. Of course, there can be many other ways to determine auspicious number. I often, find that house number is nice to have a good one, but more importantly is the house that has to be good feng shui. Reason for this is because for example 4 is bad to most chinese because it is like Die in cantonese. But to others it may be their luck number ie a four leave clover. So auspicious number is really subjective to the individual. No real right or wrong for a number. Anyway, 7 isn't considered any inauspicious nor have significant inauspicious meaning in general. So should be not a major issue. maria cutrona wrote: I thank you for the information. How long does it take for you to do a house plan? Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: 1. Before I perform themoving tonew houseritual , canI or some relativestay overnight at the house ? URL: www.geomancy.net/temp/user/move-in.doc Anonymous wrote: 2. Can I perform themoving to new houseritual first , then at a later date only install built-in kitchen cabinet and wardrobe ? Yes, this should not be a problem. Only thing to take note here for doing renovation or works after you move in is:- 1. If the house is built in period 8 (2004-2023), then no issue. 2. If the house is built before in period 7 (1984-2003), then be careful that it is not a major renovation otherwise, you might accidentally change the house luck. 3. Remember to check where is the Grand Duke (Tai Sui) so as not to offend it if the works is conducted. Best to select a good date if any. Anonymous wrote: 3. On the day of performingmoving to new houseritual , must the ownersleep in thenew house that night ? I heard that they also must cook their first meal on the same day. Is this true ? Actually, once you do the move in ritual, ie bring in the rice and charcoal, those are already symbolic of moving in. It is providing the necessary food items to be able to cook in the house. This is suppose to seed the house with luck as well as essential food stuff for owners to be able to cook food. So whether or not the owner actually move in on the same night is not really necessary. The symbolic action is good enough. However, if you can do so it will be better. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research.

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Thank you for your time. I am selling a home in California, the front door does not face the street, this seems like a benefit is that correct? If so how can I use this to my advantage in marketing my property? Frankly, as long as there is no road cutting towards the house or curving into the house then there is no sha qi towards the house. Therefore, there should not be any major sha qi from that point. But this is a very common feng shui benefit. Therefore, if you do want to use feng shui in your marketing of your property, you should be wanting to list it's major or uniquefeng shui benefit rather than to list all the minor benefit. Dear Camelia, Camelia Estrada wrote: I am in the process of buying a new home. Each home has a model number. Should I consider the model # as important as the future street number and evaluate it on your house # section? Frankly, house number plays the least amount of impact on the house luck. The external shapes and form and the feng shui of the house itself is most important. Most will focus on the unit number only if there are two units of the exact same layout ie one is #04-01 the other is #08-01. Say you have such a choice then, you want to check to see which is better luck. In most cases, auspicious number analysis can be subjective. For example, if going just by sounding #04-01, because of the 4 which sounds like Die in cantonese, and 8 which is like fa (prosperity). Most chinese will prefer to go for #08-01. So unit number should not be the main focus of whether a house is good or not. That should be considered together with other factors. Hope that helps. I just can't see the logic of this....so wanted to seek your opinion. Thanks Frankly, whether or not a person can win lottery determines on luck. Individually, each person have certain amount of luck. Whether or not one will win depends on who's luck is best among the people who buy the 4D/Toto. Which is why it is so hard for most people to even touch a small prize. And why most of the time gambling isn't a guaranteed way to make money. In fact, you are more likely to lose the money you gamble due to odds. Most likely, this fortune teller is mixing some religion into his recommendations. ie not eating meat will mean less killing as such more likely to be blessed. However, personally I do not believe that there is anything that can help you in terms gambling. Gambling is all about luck. Whoever is luckiest is likely to win. That is why it is always better to depend on your own effort to make money rather than depend on lucky winnings. Hope that helps. Dear Maria, maria cutrona wrote: I hope someone can help me with the house number. What is the flat number? The lot number is 7 and the address is 6733. I am not sure if I am getting this right. Actually, the flying star apartment number is designed for flats or apartment layout to determine the luck of the apartment on different levels. ie 5 level and 8 level which has better luck. It was never really designed for a house which is numbered differently. However, the concept behind the apartment number is #Level-Layout. In your case, I would simply use number and sounding to determine which is better. ie for example 8 = Fa or prosperity, while 6 = Lucketc. Or use your personal kua number to determine the luck:- ie. 6733 = 6 + 7 + 3 + 3 = 19 19 = 1 + 9 = 10 10 = 1+0 = 1 Thus, the number kua is 1. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: dear practitioner, i am renovating my bathroom. what would be the best color paint to use since the bathroom is located southwest on the top floor. i need to enhance my love life. i also need to know which other elements should i add. please provide details. my birthday is oct 17, 1969. thank you. please keep my name and identification very private. Generally, the safe colour to use for all rooms where a full flying star analysis isn't considered is always to use very light (near to off-white or white) colours. This colour will be able to neturalise any inauspicious Wood or Earth star under the flying star. In order to enhance your luck (be it for health/romance/wealth etc), the best way is to improve whatever you lack based on your ba zi. Thus, by having more elements in from the facing of your home, the colour scheme of your clothes/room/personal objects, suitable career element, people you are with etc. So the best element and colours can be determined from our free ba zi report as provided here in this link. Dear Alvin Chua, Alvin Chua wrote: Using the Flying Stars method, I have a 5Yellow Water star and a 3 Green Mountain star in my bedroom. Can I hang five emperor coins to weaken the 5 Yellow and also control the 3 Green? Another thing that confuse me is this. If a room is filled with untimely inauspicious Flying Stars, will it help me if I position my bed and working desk to my best directions using the Eight Houses method? How does the two systems complement each other? Or conflict? Fei Xing (Flying Star) and Eight House (Ba Zhai) are two different concepts. 1. Flying Star is to assess the Qi and luck of the house itself. If a sector is inauspicious, it has to be balanced. The any inauspicious stars in an unbalanced sector will cause anyone using that room to ie fall ill etc. So any unbalance has to be correct to neutralise the influence. 2. Eight House is to check for best direction and suitability of a room to a sector. The room for example may be suitable to a person, but that does not mean that the luck of the room is good. So this mainly assess the best direction and suitability to the room. The two concepts works hand in hand. You must always balance up any flying star inauspicious flaws, and then you must find the best room and facing direction for you to individuall enhance your own luck. Flying Star inbalances can be corrected. Once corrected the room will be still good for anyone to make use. That is where your positioning will then come into play. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Frankly, there are a few ways to determine a good date:- 1. For most people using the Tong Shu helps them to generally find a good date. 2. Others based on the full moon or half moon. Normally, 1st or 15th of the month are generally considered auspicious dates. 3. More personalised analysis by considering the individual ba zi in addition to key tong shu event. Our website uses this method so it is like having a personalised forecast of best dates just for the two person being analysed. Either way, as long as you it is done properly, tends to be able to find a good date for you. I won't worry too much if you cannot change the date as you can also attempt to compensate your luck by ensuring that you have more favourable elements to boost your individual ba zi. For example, if you are a weak water person, then having more White/Gold (Metal) element will boost your own luck. Same goes for two person, try to have the element that favour both of you. This will boost up the luck for the two of you. That is why personalising with ba zi can often help you boost up your individual luck. This is more practical then just basing on the typical tong shu. For example, sometimes because your ba zi and day clash, then even if the day is good, because of the clash this day may not be as good as another that does not clash. So my advise for you is to enhance your individual luck. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Good day, I recently bought this dragon statue. I would like to find out if there's a preferred direction for this dragon to face. It will be sitting on my office table. A dragon is a Rooster's excellent pairing. So it will tend to bring you luck. Regarding placement. For dragon statue, because it is very strong item to counter sha qi (or poison arrow), it is best you avoid placing it facing you. Frankly, for altar placement, you do not follow any family member's eight house. There are some common rules or place to avoid:- 1. Should not let the altar face the main door as it is like employing the altar to be a security guard. 2. Altar should if possible avoid looking at the dining table, as the deity will get hungry when it sees you each food. 3. Altar should not be placed at a wall where the toilet is directly behind it. 4. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have out of balance 5 elements. no water. no metal . Too much fire and earth. So call husband killer life( ker fu ming).I am still single nmarried.Husband palace isseven killings ( qi sha). I am army warrior ( wu qu ).Can this life be change or must I accept my life ?I have tried many ways to increase water & metal but no much use. Actually, the one thing that I always avoid is fortune telling. Lots of fortune telling sometimes can create more problems than be of help. For example, by someone telling you that you have husband killer life, this will not only cause you make it happen simply because you believe in it so much. In terms of ba zi, I always focus on attempting to maximise and balancing what you lack, rather than the fortune telling portions which really does not help people as much. Though, you cannot really alter your given luck, you can attempt to maximise and take advantage of it. Everyone will have some good and bad times. Knowing when is a good and bad, allows you to pursue what you want in the good times, and take extra caution in the bad times. For any chart that is out of balance, the goal is to attempt to bring it in balance. You need to first know how much of each elements you have. Only then, can you know what elements you should have and which you should avoid. The goal is to attempt to get 20% of each of the five element. Only then can you be considered to be in balance. Any elements you have too much, you often want to avoid, anything you lack completely or too little you want to have more. For example:- Weak water person, Water = 5%, Metal = 10%, Earth = 50%, Fire = 30%, Wood =5% So a weak water likes Metal and Water generally. Given you lack more water then mater, then it means that Water (5%)should be something you should have more followed by Metal (10%). For the bad side, Earth and Fire tends to make you weaker. Given you have so much Earth (50%), then Fire (30%). Earth should be avoided as much as possible compared to Fire. That is how you so call balance your element. So whatever you have too much for example, you must reduce. These will have to balance up your life. And when I say improve or reduce element, I mean it in a broad range of application. ie your house element, your colour, your career, your friends etc. The more areas that you reduce the better your luck will be. Your home will have the strongest effect to change some of your given luck. So that is why Earth luck is rather important. Hope that helps. But if I am not ready to move in these two days, the next few days are average and mix blessing days. Does it matter if I move on those average and mix blessing days? Apologise, have been so busy after I got back from overseas, that I managed to clear most of my cases today for me toattend to the forum post. I mean of course, it would be ideal if you can choose the date that is most suitable to both of you. If not, and you really need to move in before the 30 Sep, then you need to choose the next best alternative. Average and Mix Blessing would be at least better than Average and Very Inauspicious/Inauspicious. So it is still acceptable. Alterantively, if it is really so important. Just make sue the date is best for the key breadwinner. Then let him first open or move in the furniture. After then followed by the spouse. This would at least be the best compromise if you still wish to choose a good date. At least the key person should get a better suited date. Anyway. Average and Mix Blessing would still be ok. Like, mentioned, of course it is good to get the best, but if you cannot make it by the date, then the next best will have to do. Hope that helps. Dear SM, S M wrote: Which directions should I use for placing feng shui cures? for egs, the direction for career is north, where as in the bagua the front middle portion is for career, (which as per my house is east). Which is should I use to place the cures for enhancement? So for egs, for career, where should I place my cure??? Frankly, Feng Shui should be applied in a wholistic manner rather then just to find which is my wealth, career, health etc. Then seeking ways to enhance individually. Improving one's feng shui is simply firstly knowing about like what is the kind of given luck, enhacing your earth luck, and finally your human luck. A. Given Luck (Heaven Luck) - This is often obtainable from your individual ba zi. As it tells you, like what element you belong, what element/colour is favourable for you, what career is favourable for you, whether luck is with you etc. Like what you ask, how can I enhance my career? Only when you know whether what element is favourable to you, then will you know if say the career I am in does it actually suit me. If it does, of course you can then benefit from it. If it does not, then no matter how much you try to enhance from putting bagua, it will not help you. B. Your Home (Earth Luck) - Often agood or bad home can adversely influence your given luck. So of course you want to ensure that you have a house that suits you, and have good feng shui. So knowing this and attempting to correct all the existing major leaks in the home is often important to improving your wealth/career. Why I say so? Simply because, if you have a home, that as a major leak that you do not correct, no matter how much wealth the comes in, it will stay in the house. Thus, if you fix up such leaks first, you will find that your home will be much better than it originally was. Only after you fix up the leaks, then you can focus on enhancing or activating potential water wealth luck (zheng cai) or moutain wealth luck (pain cai). 3. Human Luck - Last but not least, feng shui on its on will not bring you wealth. It is your own hardwork, the people to people relationship that will help you in your work, business etc. S M wrote: I would like to know how to enhance my and my husband's career and my children's edu In order to know how to enhance, you first need to understand the individual ba zi, what direction suits them etc. You can make use of the numerous free tools on our website:- URL:http://login.geomancy.net Husband's career - check out what element is their career, what element they lack or need, which direction is their best work direction. Childrent's Education - check out what element they lack, paint room in colours that will motivate them, and let them study in their best directions etc. The other factor that will affect them, is often the house feng shui. This you will need to get it evaluted, then you can see how else you can maximise the layout of your home to get the best for them. Like I mentioned, you have to look at it in a wholistic manner. Dear Thomas, Thomas S wrote: I am a college freshman sharing a dormitory room with another person. This person is seriously hurting me academically, as he is a complete party animal who does not nothing really except watch TV, listen to loud rock music, and go to late night parties (and waking me upwhen he comeshome at 4:00 AM). Though, I can feel your pain. But frankly, feng shui is not a mircle cure for all problems. In this case, probably putting a bagua may only irritate him and cause him to purposely create more problems for you. I would probably advise you to maybe use some human luck factor, ie have a nice talk with him ask him if he can compromise on some acceptable level to both of you so that you can still continue to share the room peacefully and each having the freedom to focus on their own work. Alternative, see if you can request to transfer to another dormetc. Probably such things are better than depending on using Feng Shui to chase people out. Hope that helps.
