Hi Anon, Anonymous wrote: I attach a rough sketch of a house with the living room facing north. Is this still considered a sit-south and face-north house although the main door is not in the centre? I frankly, want to avoid using the term Sitting and Facing together as it can be very confusing if the term is not defined properly. When we talk about faicng west, we mean from center looking towards that direction (ie. west). Just like the compass direction. I will need you to check whether it is an apartment (2nd-7th level) or 8th levels and higher, first. Since there has been many many confusion about this direction, we have recently made some more clearer defination for all users to follow:- If the apartment is between 2nd-7th level, then you should consider the main door it Facing South. If the apartment is 8th level and up, then you should consider the living room Facing North. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Cilla, Cilla Tan wrote: I understand that we are not suppose to do any renovation at the West, North West and the East this year, does that mean we cannot dig the ground outside at the garden to plant any trees as well? Or can we do any other landscape, say like -just putting pebbles, stone, paving bricks on the conflicted ground??????? In terms of renovation, the only direction to be extra careful is the West due to the Grand Duke. East and North-Westare just Sickness and Misfortune stars. It does not mean you cannot have renovations done in that sector. Only the Grand Duke is what you want to avoid. Grand Duke dislikes noise ie hacking or drilling etc. As long as it does not involve any major renovation works it should be fine. Just to play safe, you can always offer some incense/offerings in that direction (West), and say like we are doing some renovation, apologise for disturbing you. Plus the offer some food to please the Tai Sui. Before you start work. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Angela, Angela Le wrote: I was wonder how bad is it really to have a bathroom in the center of the house because most floor plans have bathrooms near the center of the home. Also, is it still bad to have the main entrance face a fire place even if the fireplace is at an angle. Basically, once you walk into the house you do see the fireplace, but just a side of it. The fireplace is actually at a corner. Finally, Is it bad for me if my excellent is NE and my husband is SW for us to have a house that indents in the front area. For example our front exterior is like a U shape. I have included a picture. If we get a house that faces NE or SW with that shape of the house, is it bad? Is the floor plan still okay for us because I don't think it is 100% perfect in feng shui, but it is one of the better plans. Unfortunately, there is no pre-built homes that are free from any feng shui flaws. What you need to do is to determine whether the flaw is major or minor and how it overally impacts the entire home. Having one major/minor flaw does not mean that home is condemned.Just like an exam. Failing one question out of 10 question does not mean that you fail the exam. So you need to consider the overall feng shui influence then assess it whether it is has overall impact over the home. Yes, though having a toilet located at the center of the home isn't that auspicious. It is a series of inauspicious influence that will finally impact the people staying in the house. ie. House not suitable, or house luck is bad, or ba zi luck period inauspicious. If a series of such issues are noted, then you will have inauspicious luck. As for the other question on fireplace. Didn't see a file attached so very hard to comment on whether it is an issue or not. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Sally, sally brown wrote: Hi, this is my first time in this forum, and i request someone advise me on the difference that my compass shows at me new home in Jamaica, using a compass from UK, the readings differ. The sun always rises in the East, is that true? therefore would my home facing EAST, be good or bad for me chein person, the only way my compass gives accurate reading is when i look at it upside down, please help me sort out this one......sallyjayne You should note that there are different quality of compasses available. The cheaper or smaller compass will not be as accurate most of the time. So far we find that it is best to use a surveyor's compass, these compasses then to have anti-magnetic shielding to prevent any magnetic influence from affecting the final reading. Some homes or area have high metal structure will often affect the reading taken by normal compass. That is why if you get a ordinary or very small compass, the reading will not be as accurate when taken in an area which has additional magnetic influence affecting the reading. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-recommendcompass.htm Until you get a good quality compass, you will not be able to tell the exact direction. At least not from just basing on the sun rise and set. That is not accurate. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Hi Anon, Quote: I'd like to find out when is the Qing Ming festival in year 2006. Does Qing Ming always start and end on the same Lunar Calendar dates every year? The start of Qing Ming Festival is always on 4th / 5th / 6th Apr (Western Calendar). Some modern people will start Qing Ming as early as two weeks before, whereas most people will do it within the month of Qing Ming. It can last for as long as 1 month. As such there is no fixed date for the end of the Qing Ming. Start of Qing Ming for 2006 is 5 Apr 2006. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Robert Quote: Son - weak water - Wood house not too favourable as it weakens him. Anonymous wrote: Is it alright if my son's bedroom is in the SW sector of the house? Under the bazi and direction suitability, South-West is considered Earth direction which is wealth to a water person. If your son isStrong Water person, he will most definately benefit from it. However, since your son is a weak water, he will need more Metal and Water to strengthen his weak water before he can benefit from the wealth sector. Of course, you should check out whether the Eight House direction is suitable or not, as long as that is also not death or disaster. Should be acceptable. Hope that helps. Dear Lily, Quote: May I check if our whole HDB block is being washed and painted by the Town Council, does that put our block into Period 8. The neighbouring blocks are of course painted as well ie. all the blocks (total 5 blks) in our area are painted. Painting alone isn't often enough to be classified as a major renovation. Major renovation is often classified by hacking of walls which change the internal structure of the house. Thus, your unit will retain the existing period. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: 1) can i start renovation during the 7th lunar month? It isn't advisable to start a renovation during the 7th lunar month. It is better to start before th 7th lunar month. Anonymous wrote: 2) if i start renovation before 7th lunar month, can it end during the 7th lunar month? Yes, it can end during the 7th month. However, you should avoid visiting the place too frequently during the 7th month. Remember, that should you avoid bring anything into the house, if you did make sure you bring back. Anonymous wrote: 3) can i move into the new house during the 7th lunar month? if not, is it ok to leave the house empty during the whole month? Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hope you can advise whether my family is suitable to live in a Period 8 house facing south-east (i.e. living room windows facing south-east)? My family members consist of: Strong earth (breadwinner), strong metal (spouse), weak wood (daughter) and weak water (son). Based on your information provided (ba zi element analysis only). South-East - Wood element house Breadwinner - Strong Earth - Wood house is favourable Spouse - Strong Metal - Wood house is favourable as it is weak Daugther - weak Wood - Wood house is favourable Son - weak water - Wood house not too favourable as it weakens him. In terms of the analysis, most important is breadwinner, the rest of family should ensure that the bedroom suits them. Please be advised here that I only analysed information based on your ba zi element suitability, you should check out other issues such as eight house suitability, flying star, shapes and forms etc before you make your final decision. Dear Anon, Blue colour car is Water element. Weak Metal favours Earth and Metal element. Water element, Fire element are unfavourable because it makes you weaker. Thus, Blue colour car won't be favourable for your weak Metal. Please use this reference material for the five element and colours URL: http://talk.geomancy.net Hope that helps. Which one do I use as my main door when trying to calculate the main door in order to feng shui? However, since you are doing the feng shui for your own office location only, then you should take the entry door to your office which is South-East. Hope that helps. Dear Lily, Quote: May I ask what happens if WS8 and MS6 fell in the sector of half of the toilet and half of the dining room (divided by a solid wall). Can WS8 be activated in the dining room? The other half of the dining room is MS2, WS3 and B7. As long as a resonable amount of sector influence cover the dining room, it is still possible to activate the stars in the sector. For Water Star however, you also need to make sure there is clear space available, because that is the requirement. A dining room may not be as effective a location compared to living room/balcony. With the open space consideration, you will not be able to enjoy the water star in this sector of the house. So you might want to focus on other areas which you can enhance or correct. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: What if my chart shows earned wealth 0, main funds 3, unexpected wealth 1 and unexpected funds 1? How should these be analysed then? It seems that I have much moreskills and talents than wealth. Am I right? Just wondering can skills bring about wealth in this case? Or any relation? 1-2 deities quite average. 3-4 a little more. So yes, it would seems that you have a little more skills, than direct wealth luck. You have to find out for yourself what are your skills, by means of skills it can be anything (ie. some people very good with maths, music, art etc). Say if good in maths, then becoming some engineering can be beneficial, good in arts may be creative so design work will come in handy etc. The chart cannot tell you more what skills you have more, it can only tell you that you seem to have more skills and talents. So if you use it rightly, of course it can help you create wealth. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Anthea, Anthea Tan wrote: I am an insurance agent for the past 3 years. It has been full of ups and downs. Seek your advise if Iam suitable to bein this industry? If not, what industries would be more suitable for me? Do plan to go into social services in my later years. Is it ok to do so? The only issue here is an insurance agent/property agentwill also need to have very good people to people skill in order for you be successful. Not everyone has such very good pursuation skills, I must say which is why not everyone will do well in this career. Also, there besides suitable career, the most important impact to anyone is the home (Earth Luck). Often, most of the time, when things aren't going well, our experiences tells us that the earth luck is usually the root the most of the troubles. So there may be a few issues together that could be the root cause of your ups and downs. Make use of the many tools to help diagnose the issues. In terms of five element Insurance has elements of sales (fire), and customer relations (earth). In terms of suitability, this career should still be ok for a strong wood person. But as mentioned, insurance needs additional 'IT' factor to be successful. May not really suitable for everyone. Before you go about changing your career, as mentioned check out where exactly is the root cause of the problem, it is your home, it is you lack certain additional skills to make it work, or could it also be you are in a very bad luck period that could explain your issues. For five element and career, check out this resource:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net For social services it would probably be more Human to Human relationship type of work so more towards Earth element type career. So again should be suitable to Strong Wood as Earth is wealth element. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Sam Yeong, Sam Yeong wrote: 1) how to cure double 7 at front door '7m-3b-7w'? Please note that given your house is a period 7 house, it will still retain a period 7 influence, as long as you do not fly it over to the new period by means of a major renovation. This means that even though star 7 reverts to a robbery star in period 8, because your reigning period is still period 7, star 7 still is considered auspicious for your home especially for double 7 stars. However, on it's auspicious influence will start to weaken as it star 7 becomes a fading propserity in period 8. So what you should be doing is that if your home is still a period 7 house, continue to activate star 7 as well as activating star 8 will be good because star 8 is considered period 7's future prosperity, while star 9 is future future prosperity. Usually water feature in a water star position especially in living room or balcony would be beneficial. Given that your house, is period 7, you do have an opportunity now to decide to fly completely to a new period 8 should the influence be much better than period 7 influence. Sam Yeong wrote: 2) wealth sector '6m-2b-8w' falls into masteroom and toilet. Can I put water feature inside the toilet? No. Water star influence can only be activated in Clear Space (ie living room/balancony). It cannot be activated in rooms/toilet. The only other star that can activte in the room is Mountain star. But both stars will be useless if they fall in the toilet sector. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Edwin, edwin tay wrote: I read with interest when you mentioned traditional Feng Shui and the Black Hat Sect. Can you tell us what's the difference between them. Basically, Traditional Feng Shui practise feng shui through the use of many concepts such as Shapes and Form, Compass Schools (Eight House/Flying Star), Ba Zi, I-Ching etc. They make use many of these tools which helps to personalise a person to the home. Black Hat Sect practise using static templates (ie South-West is Romance corner for example), so every's Romance activation sector is South-West. Also, a lot of such Black Hat Sect commonly tries to factoring selling products which claims to be able to create wealth etc. So their concepts are generally very static, based on like what the practitioner feels will improve the place, clutter with lots of products related practises. Using a lot of personal intuition by the feng shui practitioner rather than calculation type model to make recommendations. Something like that kind of nature. I think if you did a search in the forum or website, you should be able to find more info. What I highlighted are just some of the more generally practises associated with Black Hat Sect Feng Shui. edwin tay wrote: Also, what's the difference between the mirco and macro Feng Shui? Micro feng shui is when the area of analysis is focused into a small area such as within the house or bedroom. Macro feng shui is where area of analysis is like the plot of land, country or land. For example, if you take the main door of a house within a building, this is considered micro feng shui analysis of the apartment only. If you take the main door of the building or facing of the plot of land the building is on, this is macro feng shui where you are analysing the entire building (irregardless of the individual units/apartment). Macro feng shui is generally about large area of concern such as external shapes and form of the building, while micro is normally deals with a specific area such as the apartment or room only. Dear Cheryl, cheryl ludwig wrote: According to what I've read, the wealth sector is the Southeast normally. However, according to my understanding, for me, the wealth sector is in the Southwest. Hence, my confusion. I believe I am a weak wood, if that helps (10/29/57 - 11:15 a.m.). My question: Which direction do I enhance and with what? Thank you ahead of time. I wish to remind all users here that there is no such thing a fixed wealth sector or direction. True wealth sector is changing from time to time and place to place. As such, wealth is always moving around your home. The wealth sector is identified by the flying star concept. It does not stay in a fixed location. So activation of the water/mountain star will determine on what stars are found in that sector. If based on only this year, 2005, then the wealth star is star 8 current luck period, as additional yearlywealth luck comes in South sector of the house, while North is your future prosperity. If your house is a period 7 house, then your currnet luck period would have shifted to North-East, while Future prosperity is South. But you will need to get the full flying star sector of your home to truly determine where is your full wealth potential. Make use of the free flying star report in the members area to help you. The only other so call like prosperity / excellent sector for example is basically the eight house concept which focus on telling you whether a sector suits you or not. Or based on your ba zi, ie weak water, means Earth direction are your wealth, as such North-East or South-West are your wealth personal wealth direction. But as a weak wood, you first need to strengthen your weak wood with water and wood before being able to take advantage of your wealth element. Hope that helps. Dear Jerine Hsu, Jerine Hsu wrote: Hi, I am new here. Just realised that my boyfriend and my chinese horoscope is not compatible.. he is a goat and I am a dog.. its said to be very bad... I am very sad as he is the one i am hoping to live my life with.. can you kindly advise me how to make it better? I will be very grateful.. thank you Yes, in terms of chinese horoscope, dog and goat aren't ideal combination. However, not to worry as it is not the end of the world. Chinese Horoscope generally considers year of birth so you are matching year of birth to year of birth to check compatibility. You should also check on the element from your ba zi and see what kind of element you belong to as such find a way to improve compatibility. ie weak water vs strong metal person can improve harmony with water element. That also means that you should check out what kind of element of goat and what element of dog. Sometimes once you consider the element it might not be as bad anymore or at least some ways to improve it. However, it will still depend on the two individuals to work out the differences in order for any relationship to last. So even if it is incompatible, but if you both person are willing to work out the difference, then it should be ok. Hope that helps. Dear Edwin, edwin tay wrote: 1. If we were to change our name, after the change, if we do not use that name often, it would be effective. Meaning to say that if people call myChristian name instead of my Chinese name, it would not be effective. Frankly, a name change isn't recommended especially once you reach a certain age. This is because the hassle involved and the effects you can expect from the name is not a great deal. In addition, if you don't use the name it is even less effective. Usually a name is effective only when it is given from birth. As everyone will know and call you by the name. Thus, it is useful when you choose a good name for a baby. You will find that if you focused on other areas such as your home, and enhancing your ba zi, you will reap a much greater amount of luck improvement than compared to a name change. Often, I can tell you frankly, that I will strongly not advise a name change unless it is absolutely necessary or if a client truly insist on it. edwin tay wrote: 2.I'm a weak wood. If you can confirm that your date of birth information is:- Male Western Calender: 7 Jan 1974 Lunar Calendar: 15 day, 12th 1973 Then I can confirm that your true element is Strong Earth, as true element is best deduced from Ba Zi Heavenly Stem of the day. Given that your ba zi is Wu, therefore your element is Earth element. Given that I have seen many different feng shui masters using different ways to define a person's element, ie some use Gua element, some use Ba Zi Year element, some use Chinese Astrology, some use I-Ching etc. So if different concepts are used to analyse you birth element, you get differences. So as a Strong Earth person, therefore, Metal and Wood element would be best for you. Engineering is Wood element, so is still considered generally suitable for you. Hope that helps.
