  1. Dear Steven, Here again, it would depend:- 1. On the distance of the living / dinning room wall ie. facing the main door. 2. The Ba Zhi of the breadwinner in relation to the house. 3. The specific sector the mirror is placed. (Flying Star analysis). 4. The size of the mirror. 5. The size of the living / dinning room in relation to each bedrooms. A sub-analysis is that if the living room is `over-sized' in relation to the other rooms, it implies that the breadwinner would be a `castle builder' or very ambitious. As a mirror `helps' to extend or give an illusion of more spaciousness... let us imagine what it will do... Well some of us say that perhaps this could be a `plus point'? Usually, physical audit or one has to be present at the site to look at all these. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. Dear Steven, It would depend on each case as no two situations are identical. Overall, when we talk of a waterfall, it can either be manmade or natural. But usually, it should be looked at a macro level i.e. the site. For example if it is a plot of land allocated to a condominium, the whole condominium project can be looked at (or must be looked at in total.) Good shapes are e.g. the horseshoe design layout; the U shape where your units are at the base of the `U' etc... I am afraid to give a standard answer to this as I mentioned, one has to look at the unit / house, the distance to the waterfall, the angle of the waterfall, the size and activity of water generated by the waterfall, the `Dragon-tiger' at the site. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Steven, 1. Shapes and Form is usually the most common method in analysing a plot of land: 1.1 Using the four symbolic animals concept i.e. of clear space at the front and solid support behind. 1.2 Yin and Yang concept 1.3 The Five elements concept such as the surrounding buildings. Are they generally e.g. earth element? fire element? etc... 2. For a plot of land, it is analysed usually with a built up area. 3. This is because under the Flying Star Feng Shui there are 24 directions or (mountains) or compass degrees per 24 sector at 15 degree increments. 4. For a Flying Star Chart, it is essential that the direction of the main entrance door is taken. Without this fundamental direction, no Flying Star Chart can be `drawn'. 5. Since the Flying Star Chart has the `water' star and `mountain' star or the facing (water) and sitting (mountain) position, this form of Feng Shui closely resembles Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. 6. This is where under Para 5, the Flying Star `water and mountain' or facing and sitting' can be used to analyse a plot of land. 7. Here, if one notice carefully, it is really similar or actually is infact "Shapes and Forms" minus using the compass. 8. Therefore, when we applying the " sitting and facing " used under Flying Star, it is the same as saying that at the main entrance, one should have clear space or a water position representing clear space as water is flat. While the `sitting' position usually would require a solid backing or wall. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Elena, 1. For metal beams, the most important consideration is the time spent at that sector. 2. If the beam happens to be above one's bed or the sofa, we can try to neutralise it. 3. But if the beam is on it's own and one does not spent much time below it, then this is usually not an issue. 4. Yes, the idea is to use 6 coins. Alternatively, some FS practitioners advise to use 6 stars. Some people prefer not to use 6 stars because of the pointed spokes of the stars. But this is still considered a cure. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Anon, 1. There are indeed many (many) methods of calculations under "Numerology" and variants to it. 2. Furthermore, numbers are quite subjective and there are many interpretations. 3. It is very difficult to be accurate with simple analysis like what you had mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Yvonne, 1. Contrary to popular belief, it does not necessarily follow that if the door faces south, it should be painted red. 2. Or if the door faces North (blue); East (Green or brown). 3. If one is not sure what colour to paint the door, neutral color e.g. natural wood grain color or white is the most acceptable color. 4. If Flying Star Feng Shui is considered as red represents the fire element, the sector at South is checked to see the interaction of the three #mountain + #water + base number to check that they are in balance. After the above evaluation, then one looks at whether painting the door pink or red (Fire element) is either beneifical; neutral or may do more harm at that sector. 5. If one does not want to use Flying Star Feng Shui then should based on personal feelings. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Chee Kiat, Please see below:- No, under Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, unless one is going for `battle' or in an era, where, it is used for self defense, one should not place the steel sword. This is because, objects such as this if displayed is considered `sha qi' or bad qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, Under Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, many FS practitioners are particular about pointed objects in the couple's bedroom. If this bedroom belongs to a couple, it is advisable not to have a `pointed' headboard. This is similiar to NOT having a pointed or ^ shape above the door. A ^ shape e.g. especially above the door e.g. a triangular design above the bedroom door would lead to `divorce'. As you have not mentioned in detail the shape of the headboard - is it a triangle shaped ^ headboard? If it is, the shape is not ideal. For the moment, I can think of e.g. a cap to place on top of the pointed object. I know it may sound funny to some but the main object here is to mask the shape of the pointed ^. Using the concept, if one cannot see it it no longer becomes a threat is used here. If you have any other ideas as to how to hide it, can work equally well. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Judy, Please see below:- In general:- 1. Auspicious symbols e.g. each of the mandarin characters Fu Lu Shou can be carved a string of auspicious character as borders e.g. say outside the building or on a piece of furniture. I personally have a table lamp that has carved piece of "Fu" character table lamp. Here, these are auspicious symbols, that are part of the furniture or fittings. 2. The `taboo' or `superstition' is that if it is a figurine of one of the deities etc... it should be `treated with dignity and respect'. Thus, for objects that are `alive' or figurines, try to avoid placing them at locations I had mentioned earlier such as next to a toilet wall. Or If one has an ancestor altar, there should at least be a gap or separated by elevation or different heights should they be placed on the same table top. 3. For caligrapy symbols, it is preferred to be hang e.g. on walls or at staircase landing. Usually, these are hung in the living room or dining area. It can be hung in the study room. There is really no hard and fast rule with regards to this. But it is obvious that these should not be placed in the toilet or kitchen. 2. Besides water features, The double happiness symbol is very common and can be placed in the bedroom. Another `ruleset' is to remember this IN PAIRS. It is always essential that e.g. in a married couples bedroom, if we place an object it should be in pairs. This is why the "double happiness" symbol has to 'halves' that are in pairs. But this is not necessarily for a painting or picture. For a picture of the wedding, it is OK to place say the married couple's photo in the room. But for a group photo of family members, it should (preferably) not be placed there.
  10. Dear Cynthia, In Feng Shui:- 1. Flying Star analysis Usually, if one falls sick often in a new house, assessment using Flying Star to check especially the sickness/misfortune sectors can help in this area. 2. Shapes and Form Check especially if there any poison arrows aimed at the bed? or through the bedroom window. Is the bed placed on the same wall as the toilet? 3. If you live in a landed property, is there any underground water running under the house close to the bedroom? http://www.geomancy.net/fs/under.htm (Under para 3, this is usually due to prolonged stay in such a house. The above are the three key tools used for checking on sickness. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Anon, Many thanks for pointing out the poll on the Fullerton Building. In my opinion: 1. Although the sloping roofs `accumulates' to a central point; if the frontage is not properly `protected' i.e. the frontage (is where it faces the sea); wealth in such a situation looks like it will drain off into the water. 2. For the tenants (housed under) on each side of the sloping roof; in Feng Shui, these shops would ultimately open and close. And most likely tenants would change. 3. Perhaps, the rent may then be reduced such that it becomes more or less office space at some of this premises. 4. However, I believe it would make a better choice for it to have a larger percentage of eatery outlets or coffee shop / food outlets especially the fluid lines `appeal' more to the water element such as Starbucks, Delifrance, fast food outlets. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Cheui May, Yes, I believe correspondence thru email is quite different from being actually there. In my opinion, feelings is can sometimes be subjective and a certain percentage of a person's `experiences' or `visualisation'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Kaushal, Many thanks for sharing with all of us the information. I will explore the site further, and at a later date, provide my comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Chee Kiat, 1. No, you do not need to turn on the table lamp light. 2. This area has to do with `Shapes and Form Feng Shui' rather than saying that the table is wood and lamp is fire. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Marie, If you mean that it is displayed facing `looking' inwards of the house. It is best to avoid, having a dragon figurine facing inwards towards the interior of the house. Where possible, it should face outwards or to an opening i.e. an open window. This is applicable especially to a `five claw' dragon. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Evamarie, 1. Usually, there is not much cure (if any) for such a ceiling. 2. If the ceiling is not sloping but curved or semi-circular (rounded), this is still acceptable). 3. For the bed, a poster bed where one hangs e.g. a `canopy' or lace or cloth above it is one method of neutralising it. Otherwise, there is really not much can be done. The higher the ceiling, the better it is. Or the effects are considered lesser. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Chee Kiat, If the toilet is next to the bed, yes, you can close the toilet door. In Feng Shui another method is to have a side table with a table lamp on this. Here, you should close the toilet door when not in use and use the above method. The above configuration is suppose to `act' like a partition. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Elena, I will get back on this in more detail. Presently, avoid a fence that looks like the attached. As you correctly mentioned, good fence is nice to have. Fences that e.g. use wrought iron i.e. squarish or roundish bars are good. They are equally good e.g. if an arrow head design is pointed upwards. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Elena, 1. My personal advise or `caution' is to avoid using `gold' colour when painting a room. 2. This is because: 2.1 Real gold colour can make the room pretty dark or if we use real gold colour (it has to become `shiny' or gleaming). Few if any home would paint such a colour. 3. Most of the time, the `GOLD' colour we are suppose to paint ends up being pastel shades closer to "YELLOW" tones. 4. Yellow tones spell trouble especially if that sector has an imbalcne caused by BAD EARTH or STAR #5. It may unduly aggrevate the situation at that sector. 5. Painting the room `darker' to coincide with gold i.e. ranging from 18K colour to 24K colour could make the room dark. 5. Because of the above reasons the safest colour is still WHITE (metal element). 6. In my opinion, white is still the defacto `safe colour' as it is used to cure `bad wood' and `bad earth'. Thus, as a general guideline, if one has not decided what colour to paint the house, in general YELLOW (bad earth) and GREEN (bad wood) can be given a miss. For example, in a NE house (under one of the specific direction in 15 degree increments); the house may be surrounded by bad earth at many sectors at the frontage and at the back of the house bad wood. The above is only an example to and should not be taken as specific to every situation or every house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Elena, I believe this is a good question:) No, we should not be activating the mountain star without regard to our personal safety. Although modern `technology' has the answer but we must never wear a hard hat to bed:)) Nor, not owning a motorbike yet buying a helment and wearing it in bed:( If the bedroom is large enough and if there is a headboard as you mentioned, sufficient to place e.g. a tortise paper weight this would be good enough. One should not go and get a oversized headboard. It looks ugly and non functional. If one is unable to place e.g. a paper weight behind the bed, the next best alternative is to place it on say the side table. (So long as the back is not a window). The mountain star cannot be activated with a window behind it. Try as we might `deceive' ourselves. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Feng Shui does not excessively control every aspect of our lives. So, go ahead and use fridge magnets. They are often given as promotional items or vacation mementos. Many people collect magnets from their travels and proudly display them, showcasing places and iconic buildings from different countries. Feel free to express yourself. Feng Shui mainly focuses on our Earth Luck, while this area is more related to Human Luck. It's about feeling good, adding a personal and colorful touch. You know what I mean, don't you?
  22. Dear Wasis, If the tree is still alive: 1. Check for any evidence of `roting' or decay. If e.g a branch had decayed and part of the branch breaks leaving part of the broken branch hanging like a `poison' arrow; make sure that this `arm' or branch gets "amputated" as soon as possible. *JOKE* Seriously, if one stands at the main entrance and facing out of the house, if the broken branch `act's like a knife cutting thru the house, then, cut off this branch as close as possible to the tree trunk. 2. On a regular basis, if the roots are visible, check if it is hollow / if possible the tree truck also with some solid object. If it sounds `empty', decay could have set in. I do not want to sound so cruely as to say go `bang' against the tree but, we need to look at it like an ice-berg. Or the case of a rotten apple, can look good outside. 3. Every three months, check the tree and evidence of e.g. (termites) or ant colony. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards, Wasis
  23. Dear Kaushal, Apologies, I tried the URL you had provided by typing: http://dulwitch.co.uk or http://www.dulwitch.co.uk Not so lucky as I was unable to open the link. Appreciate if you can confirm the url again. Thanks. Cecil
  24. Dear Sal, 1. Size of fountains are important. Equally important is the sound of vibrant water flow. If the fountain is just a `tiny' fountain of no less than 3 feet or 1 metre in length, it should be considered more a decorative piece where one would have to fork out money like any other decoration. When we talk about fountains or waterfalls (real or artificial) they should equally be vibrant i.e. sound of water and not just water flowing gently. Here, one should consider such fountains as mere decorative piece of `art'. For dragon figurines if it is on a fountain, it is best to let if face outwards of the home. Dragons should not face into the house. Dragon `qi' usually flows from the top of the hill downwards. For example, some Feng Shui friendly buildings have a hole at the lower end of the developement i.e. at the middle to allow Qi to flow downwards. In Hong Kong, several buildings have clear glass for this purpose to allow the Dragon Qi to flow unobstructed from the `hill' to the sea. If you search for `The Sterling' condominium under the conference: Photo tours with pictures you should be able to see a scanned image of the `hole' of this development. For the location of the `lucky bamboo', you can place this decorative piece anywhere you feel nice. This is because, there is really nothing magical about `lucky abc' or `lucky dce' or `lucky xyz'. The inital lucky people are the owners of the shop who sold the person this piece and one who may most probably made a tidy profit from the person who bought the `lucky object'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Vadym, 1. The more accurate analysis is the use of Pillars of Destiny as it analyses your Year, Month, Day and Time of birth. In the more advanced analysis, Year, Month, Day, Time, House of Conception and House of Birth are taken into consideration. 2. Thus, if the proper analysis was done and as you are deduced to be a `strong metal', you can use more advanced methods such as looking at each direction based on the element. 3. For example, North is Water. South is Fire element. Thus for this two sectors: 4. Since water exhausts your STRONG metal thus create a balance. This sector is considered good for you. 5. Fire is also good sector as fire destroys strong metal to reduce it and create balance. 6. If you notice, KUA generally is based only on the YEAR of birth thus less accurate method. 7. Thus the main important point to remember is that although we are both dealing with e.g. the Lowest Commond Denominator, comparing your `strong metal' to KUA 5 is like trying to compare a basket of fruits with just a single apple. This is not a basis of proper comparison. In the academic world, this hypothesis or derivative is flawed. Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regards, Cecil
