Can you guess, what I have to say for next Year's Metal Monkey in a Wood Year? By default, next year is a Metal Monkey (Weak Metal Monkey) in a Wood Year. Please look carefully what "shape" the long axe has become after chopping a tree. Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Hey! You made a lucky GUESS! AND IT IS RIGHT!

Dear Anon, 1. Frankly, this question should not be posted in this forum. Since, in my opinion, there is no such cure under Feng Shui. 2. But, seriously, lets hope your neighbour moves away. 3. These are some of the `hints' which has nothing to do with ME or with Feng Shui. So, here goes: 3.1 Wish for more rain. Heavy rain would make sure that your neighour cannot get a puff outside the home. 3.2 Pay a Feng Shui practitioner to "feng shui" your neighbour's home. Make sure, you choose a very Lousy Feng Shui practitioner. One who will cause more harm than good:) 3.3 If all else fails, seriously, get your home air cleaners such as hepa cleaners ...e.g. Honeywell, Sharp plasma etc... 4. Unfortunately, the last resort? Erh? Move-Out. *CLUE* You do not need to be the one who moves out.. Get the idea? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Esther, Knocking the door The idea here is to seek the "spirits" permission to enter the home. But, frankly, not many people does this sort of thing. In fact, it is better not to do so, based on symbolism. Knocking could alternatively seem to "knock" away one's luck even before entering the home. Well, I hope, that by now, you should have a good idea of what to do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Esther, Firstly, Congratulations! On getting your new keys! If we analyse all the various customs, it is symbolic of "throwing wealth" into the home. For example, Singapore has one of the largest population of Hokkiens (from Fujian Province, China). THE PINEAPPLE Thus, pineapple in Hokkien sounds like " Ong Lye " or "Ong" prosperity. In general, many Hokkiens were told to roll in a pineapple into the home. Thus rolling in of a pineapple or "Ong" (Prosperity) sounds like rolling in LUCK into the home! Depending on one's dialect group, there are various other "Jumping in" or "throwing in" process. As mentioned above, all these have to do with the idea of throwing in "luck" into one's home. Thus, if you were advised to "throw" in a pineapple, *JOKE* you may perhaps, try your luck or make some practises at the bowling alley, first! Just remember that the idea, here is to "roll" not "fly-in" the pineapple. It would be considered very inauspicious if one throws it too hard; where the pineapple simply rolls to the balcony and flys off the home. Here, one's wealth just fly-out of the window. Hows this for bad luck? Therefore, if possible, try to roll it into the home gently. It would be great if it rolls to the "centre" area of the home. Here, wealth will spread to all other rooms. RICE Yes, as mentioned above, since the stable food of the Chinese is rice, than it is natural to go into the home and sprinkle (scatter) rice all around the various rooms of the home. (REMEMBER AGAIN: Don't spill it out of the window). The morale of the story? Erh.. Don't open the window when you do such things. GREEN BEANS Green symbolise the East or rising sun. And again scattering green beans in the home is symbolic of seeding the home (with children). Just imagine - the hope is that green beans sprout in the home .. and this symbolic gesture has to do with this. Erh.. Don't purposely, water them to germinate them. SALT Especially if the house is a second-hand one, often, salt is sprinkled around the home to supposely cleanse away bad qi or old qi. And also sprinkled in the toilet. "Huat Quay" or Rising Cake Some Hokkiens like to bring in this cake. As the Hokkien term "Huat" suggests, it means "prosper". And bringing in this item is symbolic of rise or raise. (Most often, this is brought in during the selection of the move-in date.) I have attached a brief description of what to do during an actual move-in. As opposed to this "getting" the key stage. Some of the procedures mentioned under the attached doc file is often performed during the actual move-in. But, some Chinese prefer to do it during the "getting the key" or first day. While others do it during the actual move-in date. Since your parent suggested "pineapple", I believe, that one of your parents must be a Hokkien. Anyway Hokkiens are more "Ching Chye" or more easy going. Frankly, one do not need to perform this ritual so often. E.g. getting the key stage, move-in stage. As it would seem quite repetitive and not so meaningful. Anyway, if one is the "Kiasu" (scared to lose type) or the "Kiasee" (or die, cannot lose type). there is no harm if one does this all over again and again. THE CANTONESE DIALECT GROUP Some Cantonese like to bring in all a combination of 5 fruits e.g. Mandarin Oranges (which to the Cantonese "KUM" means gold), banana, etc... The Cantonese like to buy a new charcoal stove, light it up, and boil water; (prior before, this, many would go to the sports stadium to practise some high-jump *JUMP). Actually, this is often done DURING THE MOVE-IN DATE. Where, they would jump over the stove (without getting hurt) into the house. THE RELIGIOUS INCLINED Many of those who are taoists, often pray to all the gods at the four corners of their new home. And they offer, incense, burn joss paper etc... This therefore depends on your religious inclinations. If one is a free thinker etc... skip this step. VARIOUS CHINESE DIALECT GROUP As mentioned above, there are so many separate Chinese dialect groups. But as I had mentioned earlier, if we can focus on the "process" they are: 1. Each dialect group likes to bring in something that "sounds-like" - prosperity, bring them good luck, raise, promotion or "gold" into their home. 2. The throwing-in is symbolic of throwing wealth into the home. OTHER RACES? *JOKE* Well, just maybe, the Americans could perhaps throw in "potatoes" or sprinkle "potato chips"; " hot dogs" etc.. For vegetarians, could bring in 5 different types of beans, etc... When to remove or spring clean after sprinkling. It is best not to spring clean on the same day as one sprinkle or spread such things into the home. Some Chinese simply leave the pineapple to "split open" and then throw them away. There were several cases, where this seems to be a very expensive excercise! As these owners owned marble floors. And the juice of the pineapple litterally soak into the floor. KNOCKING THE DOOR BEFORE ENTERING! To be continued .. in the next message....

1. Many business, prior to their opening day, would get a contractor to mount a new signage overhead of their shop. 2. After that, ask their contractor to cover it in a red piece of paper. The signage is only revealed after an auspicious date has been found. 3. It is interesting to note also that, what happens if a company needs to change a signage? 3.1 Some clients would require their contractor to remove the existing sign (BUT NOT BRING IT DOWN YET!). Next another ladder is used to place it on the top ladder step. 3.2 The new signage is being replaced and placed in it's place. 3.3 Once this is done, then the existing signage can be taken down. Please see attachment....

It is common to find many new homes, with semi-circular floor tiles at the frontage of the home... Here, it is considered as the equivalent of the "Ming Tang" or Bright Hall effect....

Dear Leon, "Sector Feng Shui" or simply said - Paying homage to a sector, in my opinion, has the lowest success rate (if any). Even at this basic level, at least considering whether a location is bright (Yang) or dark (Yin) and then determining colour scheme (although) not the best method, but has certainly a higher success rate than enhancing a sector based on it's "so called definition e.g. patriah etc...". Frankly, this type of "Feng Shui" is not practised here. Erh.... " next question, please. " Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks for all your

Dear Daria, Yes, in my opinion, based on what I understand; is it many practitioners would consider removing the roof (and putting it back i.e. changing it) as a change in Period. Thus, you should consider your parents' home as under Period 7 influence, already. Warmest Regards, Cecil

*Another Nigera JOKE* "No wonder... Joseph Estrada, was jailed?" Dear Friend, My name is LOI C.ESTRADA,The wife of Mr. JOSEPH ESTRADA, the former President of Philippines located in the South East Asia. My husband was recently impeached from office by a backed uprising of mass demonstrators and the Senate. My husband is presently in jail and facing trial on charges of corruption, embezzlement, and the mysterious charge of plunder which might lead to death sentence. The present government is forcing my husband out of Manila to avoid demonstration by his supporter. During my husband's regime as president of Philippine, I realized some reasonable amount of money from various deals that I successfully executed. I have plans to invest this money for my children's future on real estate and industrial production. My husband is not aware of this because I wish to do it secretly for now. before my husband was impeached, I secretly siphoned the sum of $30,000,000 million USD (Thirty million United states dollars) out of Philippines and deposited the money with a security firm that transports valuable goods and consignments through diplomatic means. I am contacting you because I want you to go to the security company and claim the money on my behalf since I have declared that the consignment belong to my foreign business partner. You shall also be required to assist me in investment in your country. I hope to trust you as a God fearing person who will not sit on this money when you claim it, rather assist me properly, I expect you to declare what percentage of the total money you will take for your assistance. When I receive your positive response I will let you know where the security company is and the payment pin code to claim the money which is very important. For now, let all our communication is by e-mail because my line are right now connected to the Philippines Telecommunication Network services. Please also send me your telephone and fax number. I will ask my son contact you to give you more details on after i have received a responce from you.through this email address mrssliocestrada@netscape.net Thank you and God bless you and family. MRS LOI C ESTRADA Addeum: YEAH! GOD BLESS ESTRADA AND YOUR FAMILY TOO!

Further to what I had mentioned; firstly we buy things that do not fit our culture. The next major consideration is that some people are already in financial distress. Given this situation; asking them to buy some products (which often does not guarantee) a "return" is not a wise choice. Sure, if we have money to spare, and for those who feel nice buying products (much like impulse buying) can do so. But for those who are already in "deep shit"; buying goods on credit i.e. many years back, I coined this " Credit Card Feng Shui "; is a really bad choice. Thus, many of us do not blink an eye, throwing away good food. But imagine, there is some one waiting outside, hoping to rammage or find something from our dustbin -> to give to their family food. There is a true need for survial, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lynda, 1. Yes, often white is the most common (no frills) colour for a wall. 2. As mentioned, our Luck is similar to the `Holy Trinity' of Heaven (born with); Earth (Home) and Human Luck. 3. What you had mentioned of products can be categorised under Human Luck factors - feel good or not so good. 4. Human beings has an association or need. Many of us want to look forward or have hope in our life: 4.1 A mother would rear her child with the hope that the child grows up to be healthy and lead a fruitful life. 4.2 Some people buy lottery with the hope that "next week" they touch a prize etc... 4.3 Some people, go to a temple, to "deposit" their worries. 4.4 As you mentioned, some people, buy something so that it makes them `feel good'. 5. However, in an international forum such as this, one cannot simply push another person's culture onto others. For example: Chinese objects like Goddess of Mercy, Fu Lu Shou etc... often are placed in Chinese homes. 6. In ancient times, we do not hear of crystals etc... And suddenly, in the 1980's such things pop up. 7. Often, I find it very sad that some Chinese Singapore homes i.e. it takes 15 steps to walk the length of the hall and a mere 8 steps to walk the breath. 8. Under such a small confine: in addition to the usual sofa set, coffee table, TV console, Hifi; additional items often include an altar (acceptable for religious purposes). But in addition, we can also find a fish tank, figurines of laughing buddha etc.. 9. The unit or apartment is already so crammed, yet, there are so many objects within the home. Furthermore, in a family of 4 or more persons, there is not much `elbow' room to move around. So how can these people expect to improve their situation. 10. As for the notication of message replied, apologies. We are quite busy at the moment, but will look into fine tuning the delivery link. At the moment, please do remember your posting and conference and check back if you had received a notification on it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned, sometimes, "leaks" such as a water position e.g. fountain or fish tank should also be taken into consideration. For example, in general, like the SW2 direction of the main door, if one is staying in a condo, where water is at this area, often, the home may be out of balance. I.e. with #3 and #4 (bad wood) around, water may inadvertently fuel this or aggrevate bad wood - bringing lots of problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, 1. The main entrance is often considered like the mouth of a house. 2. For a Period 7 home with main door at SW 227 degrees, then it is considered as a SW2 225 degrees home (Your previous home) has a #4 mountain #1 and #4 base. And in this year there is anthoer #3. 3. Where:- Weak Wood (4) (Inauspicious Star) represents Education, Romance, Scandal. Strong Wood (3) (Inauspicious Star) represents Disputes, Quarrels, Conflicts. 4. Often, besides the Flying Star, there are other leaks within the home. 5. Given that the star influence under Period 6 is good, try not to bring the home into Period 7. 6. This is because, generally, homes under Period 6 seems to in specific cases, be much better than Period 7. Of course, there are good Period 7 homes. But often, these are found at the Northern / NW or West sectors for the period. 7. For Period 8, looking at some of the charts, they are almost similar to Period 7 except that in some cases, I often find, several sectors are out of balance. While under Period 7, these happen to be #5 or #2 at these locations, but under Period 8, some of these #5 and #2 had swopped with #3 or #4 giving not much advantage. 8. Under the Holy trinity of Luck, if the star influence is acceptable, here, your earth luck can usually improve. Try to work more on your human luck e.g. re-establish good family bonding etc....... 9. Often, if a home is considered not suitable to the breadwinner, it is like a single leak. Many of our woes come-in when there are more than one leak. 10. Currently, since your house `ain't broken' don't fix it. But look out for areas where you can improve or reduce any other leaks. Good luck in your quest! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SK, You house has satisified Para 1 and 2. As for Para 3, as mentioned in my previous message, so far, it is proven that a hill as high as 1 storey high, will most certainly qualify for the Pearl String Formation. Hmm... for "tall thick Hedge", this is something new (or not proven yet). This is because, under the original Pearl String Formation, the effectiveness has to do with `earth' or a hill made of earth. As to a `hill' made of thick hedge, as mentioned, in my opinion, there is very few past precedence. And to me, frankly is virgin territory. Looking at it, you may have to decide on your own whether to try it or not. Thus to me, I cannot say for sure, if it will work. I sincerely do hope so, it works. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wendy, Frankly, although some books had mentioned about the ills of living close to high-tension wires; So far, from what I understand there is never a scientic proof that it brings harm to those close-by. Thus often, this is `mind' over `matter'. The only consequence under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui is that the trunk or pole or rod, should not slice into the home. If so, this is sha qi. Frankly, there were recent claims that some handphones had high (microwave radiation). More likely, if this is true, of the ill effects, we most likely can get sick or run down by a "car" than die from high-tension wires. Thus, it does not seem logical to worry too much about this. Else, governments or corporations would be sued for this. In my opinion, this type of "worry" is akin to authors telling everyone that one must not place a tv set facing the bed. From past arguments, this can be quite absurd! How often if ever, we read: A move into new home. Died in front of his bedroom TV set?*$#%^ I wonder. The morale of the story: " Life is short: Life life to your fullest. Who cares about what others say. " Often, even a bad home, can be overcomed by family bonding! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Zora, Please refer to the resource from one of my very early site:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a30-50.htm The rationale has more to do with the YEAR of birth. This is because, those born in January or February are often affected by which year your birth date should belong to. Take your example: In the above resource reference:- Your birthday is said to belongs to "1944" where the lunar new year starts on 25 Jan 1944 and ends at 12 Feb 1945 While "1945" belongs to 13 Feb 1945 to 1 Feb 1946. Thus a person who is born on 28 January 1946 should be treateda as born under 1945. If you use our website, you should be able to cross-check and get the correct information. The lowest common denominator of Chinese birthdate checking is always based on Lunar Calendar. This is the most authentic traditional Feng Shui. In the past, some book authors especially when writing Astrology books often merely state if one is born in 1945, then no matter which day i.e. 1 Jan 45 to 31 Dec 45 is treated as born in such a year. This is seen not to be the correct case. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, 1. If one is looking at the 5 elements concept; it is important that we understand the destructive cycle. 2. In past forum messages, I mentioned that actually, the destructive cycle is also the `wealth' creation model. 3. For example: lets look at the "destructive cycle":- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm E.g. Wood destroys earth 4. Here, if we look carefully at this "destruction": actually, logically speaking wood gets it's nurishment from earth. 5. And as we are all aware, over farming is undesirable. thus, many farmers plant one crop, rotate another crop etc.. And they also add neutrient into the soil. 6. Another example is Metal destroys wood 7. Imagine: puchasing a block of wood for a few dollars. But if one has the relevant metal implements; one can certainly carve out an object of art. 8. For example, the classic case of people getting the Chinese (cheaper labour) to carve out pieces of e.g. the three-legged toad: from raw material to product, it costs very little. Thus, for those who pay $388 or even $1000, goes into the pocket of the sellers. 9. Thus, wealth here is that we give our wealth to other people's pocket. 10. Since you are a strong water person, your wealth element is actually "Fire element". 11. Thus, under the Five Elements, your best career or Career associated with Wealth has to do with jobs like Marketing, sales, PR etc... 12. Frankly, I am a weak wood person. Although, I am an accountant by training, accounting is considered as a Metal profession. 13. If one looks carefully at the destructive cycle, metal destroys "me". Thus, it is not a favourable career. But a career such as Geomancy, is associated more with wood element (or healing) thus, since I am a weak wood person, it fits better with me. 14. However, do be careful with using too much of this feature. This is because there is a difference between nice to have and must have. 15. For example, even if the profession or job scope seems to suit you on paper, one has also to look at issues like education, temperment, introvert or extrovert etc... 16. If one wants to venture into something, one must have the competence or perceived competence. 17. Let me illustrate: This year, I read a newspaper article in a local paper that says: This person seek the advise of a geomancer. And was told a certain profession is more favourable to this person. BUT, he does not have the qualifications or experience in this field. This gullible person stated, I was told to look for a job in this industry. But, so far no luck. 18. Here, Luck or no luck, is not an issue. More importantly, we need money to feed out stomachs. And if we have a family, who cares whether your job fits you or not. No choice, bear with it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, It would be great if all leaks can be penned down in one forum message. But, this is impossible to do. We have actually, made available, free resources within this site and this forum. You can always try to look at the specific forum conferences e.g. Photo tours with interests, Singapore Property etc... Alternatively, note down which topics interest you, and use the SEARCH feature under this forum to find out more. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Philip, Frankly, in my opinion; the hand-me-downs you mentioned perhaps has more to do with co-incidence, than anything else. This is because logically, such items do not seem to pass down an illness or a situation. I would strongly thing that the hand-me-downs is not really a major issue. But, it is no harm playing safe - not to hand it over to your new born. So far, the incomplete picture is that Flying Star feng shui has SE as #5 at this sector. Please check to see if the room does not have earth tones especially yellow, cream or beige or fire tones e.g. red, pink or purple in this room. As these two elements are not favourable for this lunar year at SE. Wishing you all the best on your wife's safe delivery! Warmest Regards, Cecil Our concern is

Dear Jen, Yes, in many instances if the houses are not in the same alignment, there are gaps between homes or a slope. Things like the frontage of the house being blocked by other homes etc.. would also affect the Feng Shui of a home. Do you have a top-view simple sketch of a home vis-a-vis the other homes and street. Warmest Regards, Cecil
-
Dear Maile, 1. Flying stars is all about the birth chart of a home. 2. Your Eight mansions is all about how suitable the house is to you. If one looks at the two statement, both are equally important. Here, it is said that even how good a house is; but if it is not suitable to the person, this is a negative point. And with this, it does not matter which one takes precedence over the other. However, in the long term, it is preferred that the house suits the person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, Most likely both of you are conscious about the the mirror above your bed. The best is to buy an opaque film, cut out the profile or outline, first. And if you know how to D.I.Y. simply, clean the mirror first, and then add a bit of soap into a spraying bottle, and spray the water onto the mirror. Once done, just paste the film and use a tool e.g. like a credit card or atm card to smooth the surface. (Do remember to use some cloth to collect the spilled water. Covering it with symbols, would often not help if the base (mirror has not being covered up). For the Chinese, the double happiness symbol can be used. But, since from your name, you are not a Chinese, just cover the mirror will do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lynda, Apparently, you and your family seems very uncomfortable with the person's advise. Given this understanding, and given that your daughter and yourself feel very uncomfortable with his advise, it is best not to follow thru. I quote an extract from a user who had posted in this forum "The information they are willing to give is so trivial and one senses that the only thing they are interested in is to make money and sell you products that might and might not fit in with your decor or your culture, and of course doesn't serve the purpose of curing and or enhancing. Sorry for the long message, but I have a friend who spent a fortune buying all types of figurines to cure then to enhance and then eventually all she got was more figures on her credit card and no luck!" Whilst repainting her Yes, I do agree that it is perhaps a lame excuse to lay claims that the ghost is haunting him since, he's advise is via email/chat. So far, no ghosts has been so advanced as to use the internet gateway to log into this person's home. In addition, there is a higher probability of some people falling sick with colours such as yellow, cream or beige and pink. Since, a major bad stars like #2 and #5 are sickness/misfortune earth elements. Where #2 and #5 belong to them. And adding fire (red, pink) could further inflame the situation. If it ain't broken or (not exactly that bad of a situation); don't fix it. More often, given that the entire family does not feel comfortable with an advise, just as what you had done, don't do it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. In addition, since Feng Shui has much to do with the 5 elements concept, it is always prudent to get your practitioner to indicate what is you and your family's ba zi element. 2. Here, some are very general e.g. merely give us the Year of birth. Usually, this is insufficient. 3. The greatest thing to be careful about a practitioner is if he/she; suggests some physical object: 3.1 FS Practitioner: "You need a special painting for this wall. The practitioner will describe e.g. the specific calligraphy or a certain painting." 3.2 The client (victim): "Do you know where can I get such a painting?" 3.3 FS Practitioner: (Without blinking an eye, immediately says) "You can get it from my office." 3.4 (At the next location) FS Practitioner: "You need a special water feature. Here the FS practitioner describes a `unique' circular water feature that can increase wealth." 3.5 Again, the client (or victim) asks: "Do you know, where can I buy such an item?" 3.6 FS Practitioner: "You can also get this at my office". Often, if one finds such going on; it is time to `scrap' the practitioner. As, it would imply that the practitioner is all about squeezing out more money out of us! Does this sound familiar to some of us? Have one being conned this way? The morale of the story: "CONFIRMED! A FOOL WILL ALWAYS DEPART WITH HIS/HER HARD EARNED MONEY!" Don't become this fool! Let's scrap this talk! A FOOL IS ALWAYS A FOOL! WHAT CAN I SAY:( Warmest Regards, Cecil
