  1. Dear Anon, This house does not have a garage. The car simply drives thru from one side of the gate and parks within the circular driveway (opposite the main entrance door). When the owner, drives away, he opens the second gate and drives off. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. The car is parked within the circular driveway.
  2. Dear Anon, You can place 6 ancient Chinese coins tied with a red string on the wall on that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear T Wong, Please see below:- Ideally, if your condo has a water element, it would be best to `ride' on the water position of the condominum especially if it enhances the entire plot of land. If you want to place a small water fountain: 1. It should usually be inside the living room. 2. It should not be at the centre of the house. 3. Preferably, that the breadwinner or the spouse is not a weak fire person or strong water element person. 4.If the condo is not big, or less than 1,400 sq feet, one should think twice placing the fountain. 5. If one places a fountain, some asked, should I switch it on 24 hours? Usually, if the fountain is small, it will have minimal impact as e.g. the beneficial Qi created, is insignificant. One consideration is that if it is turned off, one might consider it `broken'. The SW or romance corner you mentioned is based on the Eight Associations or Life Aspirations concept. This is a static interpretation of the Gua. As this is concept is too general, in my opinion, it does not matter if one enhances the sector or not. I am not sure, how a wind chime can help in an enclosed toilet. Firstly, for a `hobbist' or one who enjoys the sound of the wind chime, I believe the toilet is too sheltered for it to make a sound. Secondly, perhaps, you can share with us where did you come across that a wind chime should be placed in a toilet. Ideally, one must be careful if one wants to place a metallic wind chime at the West, NW and NE. If placed wrongly it may be `bad'. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Nancy, Frankly, it is difficult for me to fully visualise what u mean. If would be nice if you have a sketch or some pictures of it. As you mentioned that your house is on top of a hill, Feng Shui (and `commonsense approach' would suggest that the house is on firm foundations and surroundings do not have soil erosion or protected from soil erosion. At a hill, it is best that there should be `forestation' or plants especially if the house is the top most house. Other than that, it is difficult for me to comment further. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Ruby, Based on Chinese Astrology, the following is a brief information:- 22 Jan 1947 to 9 Feb 1948 Fire-Pig: 1887, 1947 With the fire element, this pig is more ambitious, energetic, domineering and courages. Is generous, tolerant but is more self-centred. Is more willing to take up new challenges and can be successful but if failure sets in will be a broken wreck. This pig has fixed ideas and more obstinate and will not easily give in to other's opinion. 10 Feb 1948 to 28 Jan 1949 Earth-Rat: 1888, 1948 Is pramatic, honest and family oriented. Is self centre and has trouble dealing with others although he is soft spoken. Is self centred but has lots of determinated. Is romantic and loving with a strong sense of reality of life. This rat takes few risks as they are more cautious Compatibility:- The Rat and Pig has to be more understanding and tolerant with each other. You can check out http://www.lovesigns.net At this site, you can find which Chinese animal sign you are and from there, check the compatiblity of both parties. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Anon, 1. Pearls signify pure and precious. 2. Chinese learned to cultivate pearls long before the Japanese cultivated them. 3. Chinese associate `tears' as beads of small pearls and it is common to place a pearl in the mouth of a dead person. 4. If one has seen mother-of-pearl inlay in an antique furniture, one will be amazed by the `glitter' of the inlay. It is like ebony and ivory, where the ivory gleams and `glows' in different shapes. Simply lovely! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Robert, You can try this site: http://www.zhouyi.com The above page is a links page of all things related to the I-Ching. You may have to be `patient' and do some homework to find out what u want. I hope you do find it:) Warmest Regards, Cecil cc. This message will be transferred to the I-Ching (Zhou Yi/Yi Jing) conference in a few days time as it does belong to there.
  8. Dear Anon, No, only one set of coins i.e. 6 coins should be placed there. (Since the report refers only to one sector but analysed using different time periods). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, So far, I have not come across such a message in this forum. Brooms are considered inauspicious objects and should not be hung outside the main door. The only questions, I remembered users posting was when one should not sweep the floor (i.e. especially on Chinese New Year day) Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Carina, In this website, all dates which are input/keyed in is your western date. It is more user friendly to keyin one's western date as few know exactly their Lunar dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Bless, Please see below:- In my opinion, you do not have to do anything about it. The main thing to remember is to avoid making that sector too yin or create a too yin an environment especially, e.g. having a large tree at that location etc... If it is on a hill, there should not be any impact as it is not on the same level as your window thus it will not `slice' thru the window of your house. Under the concept called `Penmanship peak', it is good to have such a tall thin structure on the right side of the window. Yes, it is good for a child to occupy such a room with the study table at the window and this tall thin structure to it's right. It is particuarly good especially if the child has the wood element. Usually, the curtains will be ok. But if you open the main door most of the time, see if you can just close one side of the window. It depends on the layout of the kitchen. Where best, it is said that the stove should face inwards (from the main entrance door). More importantly, the stove should be against a solid wall and kept a distance (with an island) from the water position. If the kitchen happens to be at the North, avoid, having it face the water position. As North represents water and the `fire' can easily be extinguished. If the kitchen is located at the South (fire element) the stove can face a water position. (to cool it). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Anon, Ideally, it is best to look at the layout chart i.e. if the outside wall is parallel to the inside wall and on the same `line' or sector, it is better to place it at the outside wall. But if the outside wall comes close to other sectors, then it is best to place it inside the toilet. If it is placed in the toilet, check the condition of the coins regularly. Or alternatively, `seal' it in a water proof plastic. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Anon, It is not advisable to place water at the right side as the belief is that it may lead to `illicit affairs' (although a water position is acceptable). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Anon, It is best to put something wooden instead of a plant. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, 1. One should not reverse the North/Sough directions mapping at Southern Hemisphere. 2. Some Feng Shui practitioners in the Southern Hemisphere has mentioned to do so, but so far, there is no concrete proof to do so. 3. It is best to use the same model for both the North and South. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, The purpose is to tie the coins securely. I believe you can use one set of string it with. If you need more than that, then get a thicker and longer string. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Anon, This can be a subjective issue: Do we consider symbolism or mass? 1. Under Symbolism, 6 coins represent Big metal or the largest metal element available. 2. If one consider `mass', as in your 5 inch high statute, it does certainly have mass. If you already have such an object, then, avoid adding the 6 coins. 3. "Strange" as it is, Small metal is represented by the number 7. Thus 7 coins represent Small metal. Here, one will notice that it does not matter if there are less coins: 1 coin fewer for `Big Metal' as compared to `Small metal'. 4. Usually, the problem faced is to cure or neutralise with 6 coins and seldom if ever,we use the 7 coins which is less effective. 5. Thus the traditional approach is to use only 6 coins. If now, you mentioned that you have a 5 inch copper statue and `question' whether it can subsitute for the 6 coins, you have to personally decide for yourself as this is not tradtional practise. If I am in your shoes, I will personally place the 6 coins and keep my 5inch copper statute as the 6 coins is `proven'. This new `cure' is not. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Carrie, Apolgoise. Forgot to reply on this. Grey, shouuld come under water i.e. Water element has the color blue, shades of grey and black. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, 1. Most of us are familar with Flying Star Feng Shui. If there is an imbalance, we can try to neutralise it. Here, the sector of the house `wears' an element to neutralise a sector. 2. Each of us also need a balance in our elements. This is why Pillars of Destiny or Ba Zhi is used to break down all our elements and find out our birth element and its strength. What do `wearing' our favourable element means? Here, I have given an example where, when a child is born, a geomancer is consulted. For example, I have mentioned that when my grandfather, consulted a geomancer, my elder brother was found to lack `water'. Thus his name has a character of "water" in it i.e. First Name, Second Name and Last Name : `Shui' or water. If one look at it closely, it does imply that he wears his name around. Literally, in some organisations e.g. when we had to perform National Service in the army, he literally has to wear a name tag. Under the equivalent level, many people have taken advantage of wearing clothings to enhance themselves. Why clothings? Clothings is a good choice because it covers a large part of our body and thus, is more likely to work. As it is capable of covering 33.3 percent of the area of the body. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Shellie, Traditional Feng Shui does not have a simple solution to a problem. We like to emphaise that our main aim is to help users to either fine tune or help elaborate and clear their minds. We do not analyse `raw materials' provided to us. Such as giving us birth dates and expecting us to do all the work. There are available tools for this. Alternatively, we always advise anyone who are in a real hurry, go get a Feng Shui practitioner Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Al, Please see below:- Please note that Eight House cannot be used as a cure as the Eight house does not relate to the Five Elements Concept. There need not necessary be a cure for devil's gate. As mentioned earlier, the Eight House cannot be used to implement changes or `cure' imbalances. Although you have mentioned the #2 and #5 as base numbers, I have also mentioned that #2 and #5 relating to water and mountain star has to be considered. And this has to be analysed in relation to each other. Without, the full picture, and what are the imbalances at each sector, I am really unable to properly advise you. It is not advisable to use Gua (Kua numbers) / Eight House to come up with a solution. Neither is it advisable to use " 6 bells, 6 rod metal chime, bagua outside. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Clarence, 1. Sorry for the delay in reply. 2. One should leave out the garage area as this is not considered `living' space. 3. If you have a layout plan, you can upload and I can help you find the centrepoint of the first level. If the second floor is above, the garage and is a living space, then this should be included. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is still advisable to apply the cure (if you can). This is to balance that sector of the house which is currently `out' of balance as the above cure is relatively easy to apply. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Carina, It is advisable not to hang a mirror facing the main entrance. But this can still be done, especially if one has done a full Feng Shui audit. Usually, pictures e.g. nice paintings or calligraphy are acceptable. If your neighbour is a Chinese, it is advisable not to hang a Ba Gua mirror or even the shape of it. As this may trigger a Ba Gua `war'. A Ba Gua `war' is a lose-lose situation. Nobody wins. I recounted, a situation, where I noticed one neighbour placed a ba gua mirror on their main door. The neighbour had no choice but to place a convex Ba Gua mirror to reflect back. No one wins here. Although you quite rightly mentioned that the profile of the Ba gua mirror plate is acceptable but if it does trigger a `war', this is no good. The ideal situation here is to close the main door once you return to your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Carrie, 1. I am not sure if you have tried the method under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm It is easier to use an ordinary compass. 2. All you need to do is to determine the direction of the main entrance door with reference to the centrepoint. 3. If one has purchased a Chinese Luo Pan, one would have seen that the needle is small and `difficult' to read properly the exact compass direction. Here, one should use a large compass i.e. not hand held but big ones placed on a floor for greater accuracy. 4. The best method is to use the Surveyor's method as highlighed under the above URL mentioned. 5. Alternatively, simply get hold of a survey company and pay them to survey the direction of your main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil
