  1. Dear Anon, As far as I can remember, Chinese do have a holy river where one must pay a pilgramage like the Indians. Alternatively, Chinese would rather bury their dead then to cremate bodies and scatter ashes into the sea. Here, the traditional belief is that a good burial site would ensure prosperity for the decendants. More affluent Chinese and in particular the last few dynasties e.g. Ming and Ching dynasties place high (very high) importance over this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  2. I am not too sure about Taiwan and Hong Kong but I believe it is most likely true. In Singapore, previously, one would get a compound fine of e.g. $200/- for a first offender i.e. pay the $200 fine. Just recently, one no longer will be able to get a compound fine but rather, must appear in court. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Dear Anon, If one uses the Chinese compass or Luopan to analyse a direction, here, there is the sitting and facing direction. What this means is that on the compass or Luopan, e.g. the compass direction facing the main entrance door is the facing direction while the sitting direction refers to the opposite direction. Thus it is like looking at e.g. O degrees and 180 degrees on the compass or luopan where 0 degrees is the facing direction while 180 degrees refers to the sitting position. It is normally used in conjunction with the Chinese luopan. On this site, since many users do not have a luopan, we have adopted the `regular' or ordinary compass method. You can check out http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Anon, Yes, China has a very famous distiller: Olendia Water Company that produces bottled spring water. In the past, it came only in a green glass bottle. Nowadays, it comes in both a green glass bottle and another more compact bottle same as the Ribena clear glass bottle. A few years ago, another version, the alluminium can. This mineral water is very famous in the Far East as it is suppose to be a cooling drink. Because of the alakaline in the drink, one may need to get used to it. The bottled drink comes with CO2. It is a refreshing no calorie drink. In Mandarin, it is translated as `Snake Head' drink. When we order it, from coffee shops, we just ask for `Ser Tao Shui' or (Snake Head drink). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Anon, As far as I can recall, China has not hosted such a festival or a World Trade Fair. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dear Regina, A mirror in the bedroom does not necessarily spell `bad luck'. The concern here is the belief that when goes to sleep, one's body may leave our body and may get a "fright" when it see's itself in the mirror. The above is the chief reason why, many FS practitioners discourage the placement of a mirror in the bedroom especially if it faces the bed. So far, the above does not necessarily spell bad luck. It is interesting to note that some of us feel uncomfortable (conscious or unconscious) about a mirror facing the bed while others have no reaction to it i.e. they do not feel anything. Thus, if your boyfriend feels strongly and find no issue with placing the mirror, then it is fine. Not everyone is `affected' by it. Your boyfriend is correct to say that there is currently no scientific evidence on this. Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Anon, In the past, concern was more for the measurements based on the Feng Shui ruler. For example, it was found that the imperial foot or more commonly the size of the briefcase was an auspicious measurement which was considered good for placing documents. Although colors has meanings e.g. Red is considered auspicious etc... what you had mentioned e.g. may in someways taken based on Life Associations concept i.e. fixed templates, in my opinion, what you had mentioned goes more towards commercialisation than anything else. Thus, personally, I would not use the information based on the article. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Anon, In my opinion, it depends on the person's religion. Thus not all Chinese believe in reincarnation. Because China is so vast, common religion found in the country includes buddhism, arabic (muslims), taoists and even Christianity etc... Thus like any other country, there will always be a mixture of `races' and religions. Which will determine one's view point or outlook. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Anon, 1. Yes, at one time China do produce cars especially a special version of `offical' cars. These cars, looks similiar to those manufactured in Russia. (Black cars). 2. Nowadays, car manufaturers have set up manufacturing plants. Many types of cars have been imported into the country such as Mercedes which are popular with the more affluent Chinese. Other makes have also shown up. 3. However, the most popular transport is still the bicyles. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Anon, Contrary to (I believe) popular beliefs, traditional Chinese `sweets' are a modern invention. With more modern life styles, `sweet dishes' abound. But in the past, dinner does not end with `sweet deserts or dishes'. Most popular and well known sweet dishes are the sweet and sour pork. Chinese char siew pow (red sweet meat) filling enclosed in a small round loaf of bread. Traditonally deserts are not common but in more recent times, 8 course or 9 course dinners are served. The last course is usually a desert e.g. sweet yam, logan and almond jelly etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Ariane, I am sad to hear about your problem: 1. If you have the time, you could check out the Shapes and Form School of this house i.e. do an environmental scanning: the surroundings site, the home. 2. We will certainly be happy provide you credit for a Flying Star Analysis. Here, you have to do some homework i.e. find the centreporint and direction of the main entrance etc... Look closely at the NE sector also. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Please email: robert-lee@3dmail.com to credit u with a Flying Star Analysis.
  12. You can visit the link below to have a view of the types of carpets:- http://my.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagefolio.cgi?direct=Feng_Shui_Cures/Semi-circle_radiating_outwards Please see below:- Also, could you Two flag poles can be arranged to create a triangle shape, giving the impression of three objects forming a triangle. When viewed from above, it appears as a triangle from the air. In this configuration, the triangle points outward from the house. Certainly, it is possible to accomplish this task. However, it is advisable to steer clear of tall, slender trees that may pose a threat. Whenever feasible, opt for trees with low trunks that are predominantly covered with leaves. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Darlene, 1. For the Chinese, there is what is known as ancestor worship. Here, a portrait of a loved one or a tablet (representing the loved one) and a incense or joss stick holder is placed on an altar. Usually, many of the houses have space constraints and the altar (ancestor worship) is placed in the living room or dinning room. 2. I believe, your situation is not the same as the above. But rather to keep the portraits. In your case, it is best to keep the portraits on a wall, in a `quiet room' such as the study room. Perhaps, you can also share with us have large are the portraits and if you have any other rooms that you have thought off. Alternatively, in the west, it can be hung along the staircase area leading upstairs. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear GuanPing, Please see below:- We have divided the time such that there will not be a situation where a 2 hour time frame should not overlap another 2 hour time frame. In addition, one Chinese hour is considered 2 western hours. Thus, we would consider both you and your brother as both `WEI' because it pass the 1 pm time frame. However, it also depends on how the timing is recorderd on the birth certificate as it may not show the actual time born. Here is our opinion about twin's related chart and hour pillar:- 1. Hour pillar In our opinion, even if you ignore the hour pillar, we can still get a pretty accurate reading of your life. However, with an accurate hour pillar, you will be able to enjoy two more pillars. Because a full pillars chart consist of hour, day, month, year, conception and life. What it means is taht you can get a more accurate breakdown of whether your element is weak or strong element. Other than that, the hour pillar is less important. Another factor to note is that the forecast chart of 10-year, yearly etc, is based on the year and month pillar. Thus, whether or not you get the hour pillar correct or wrong will have minimal impact on your charts. Only when the hour pillar change the element reading from weak to strong or the other way around. 2. Twin related chart Usually, by default, a twin should normally have the same kind of destiny, unless they happen to be born quite far apart i.e. born in an eariler hour and their in a later hour such as 2:55 pm and 3:05 pm. Please note that Pillars of Destiny analyses your Heavenly Luck. This is very different from your actual earthly luck. What is will mean is that it will affect your luck in whatever you do. However, how you will eventually get from it depends on the person itself. For example, even for Twins, they will eventually have two different types of life. It also depends on education, his interest, the people who groom him, experience which may not be the same for both. Each person will eventually meet different person which he or she admire and these will eventually result in different growth and mental development. Thus, resulting in two different life in which they will eventually lead. The Pillar's influence will remain the same, but how each one of them lead will eventually pave a way for their life. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  15. Dear Anon, It would be nice if we can see a picture of it else, it is very diffcult to comment on the oil painting Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Anon, If the house was built between 1983 to the present, it will still be considered a Period 7 house i.e. no change. Some FS practitioners consider the repainting of the roof (as a means to changing the birth chart of the house). The `significant' thing you mentioned is the replacing of the floor tiles (which to some FS practitioners may consider a change in birth chart. While some FS practitioners consider a change of structure or a major change of birth chart. What is considered a change of birth chart is debateable and has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. In Flying Star analysis, it is good to plot the birth chart of the two periods (if they are of a different period. For example, the house could be built under Period 6 and a major renovation has been conducted in Period 7. Here, it is best to analyse the birth chart for Period 6 and 7. A good FS practitioner can differentiate which is more accurate to use. One example is, the Period 6 chart is good but the Period 7 chart is not as good. And this is reflected by the current owners having problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  17. Dear Rochi, 1. In general, the main entrance door of a house is considered the `mouth' of the house where `qi' enters it. 2. Thus, the main entrance is considered important. 3. The `worry' here is that since the main entrance is suppose to be the `mouth' of the house, a toilet, next to it may inadvertenly, bring in bad qi especially coming from the `toilet'. 4. As you mentioned, if the wall surrounding the toilet is a `solid' wall, there may not be such an effect. The other reason can be looked at e.g. where the toilet area is just above the main entrance door. Here, one day the pumbing (if it is directly above the main entrance) may leak. "Someone coming into the house may be received by the leak.". 5. The same goes for a leak which may or may not occur, if water seeps from the `solid' area to the wall of the front entrance area. The above are the considerations, for a toilet next to the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  18. Dear Anon, Yes, in general, it is best to avoid plants with thorns inside the house (where possible). Usually, a plant lover chooses plants they `enjoy' or like and places them either in the garden or interior of the house. This is unlike a person who, was told that plants are beneficial and wants to `benefit' from them. It is always, a good choice to view the plants before, deciding buying it. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, No, I believe this is not true if not, pears are still very commonly found in retail or supermarket outlets. In my country, we do import `China' pears and others coming from Austraila etc... Being inauspicious as gifts does not necessary mean, it is not consumed. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  20. Dear Elena, Yes, when one changes the roof of a house, one should change the birth chart. But if the house is already under Period 7 (this period, for example if the house was built in 1985 and recently, there is a change in the roof), it will still be a period 7 house. If the house was built in 1980 (Period 6) and there is a recent change in the roof, then the house should take on a Period 7's house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Darlene, 1. In my opinion, many of us live in different parts of the world and climate/humidity is different. 2. Look out for plants that: 2.1. Are easy to maintain: They do not need much attention or need to be regularly moved out of the house. Plants that can `live' all year round the house would be nice. 2.2. Avoid plants that have torns or spiky. 2.3. In Asia, because of the humidity, some grow more plants with `waxy' leaves where moisture loss is less. In general the following plants can ge grown indoors (but depends on where it is placed) and the part of country one is in:- - Lilies - Money plant - Begonias - Bromeliads - Peace lily The above are some of the types of plants (not exhaustive). The best way is to visit your local orchard and walk around. In Asia, we can find minature bonsai plants (some of which) can be placed indoors. For example, Jasmine plant that is twisted to form a nice profile etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  22. Dear Elena, Usually, in my country a `good luck gift' is usually not exchanged on the initial meeting. More importantly, is to meet and have `tea' and have a cordial conversation. The most important element here, in the East is to present your business card by holding it with both hands with your namecard printing facing the associate and handing it `safely' to his hands. This is the most important `gift' that sets the tone for politeness and `respect'. Depending on who had called the meeting, usually the person who initiate it would foot the bill. Alternatively, here the gift can be to `foot' the bill. This means more than any other gifts. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Kishore, During water and earth periods, for personal self, try to enhance yourself with wood element. For personal self, you can enhance yourself e.g. wear more of wood coloured clothings e.g. green or brown. Pink, red are acceptable also. For weak fire person, try to avoid rearing fish at home or have a fish tank in the home. Avoid wearing blue. The above is generally the thing to note about personal self. Other than that, it may not be practical, but a `wood' career would be nice (but this advise may be too much thou if you have a steady job... don't on the account of this switch job). For the home, try to enhance the luck of the home by having an acceptable Shapes and Form home. For those who, go further than Shapes and Form could consider neutralising all sectors of the home if it is out of balance after using Flying star to analyse the home. The above are generally, the things to take note. More importantly, think positive and continue to make life fruitful, enjoy friendships etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Vincent, 1. If you have not purchased the painting(S), it is advisable not to place a painting of a water feature in the bedroom (if you can). 2. This is because one `incompatiblity' is because, water positions (real water or symbolic represents Yin elements. Too much water results in too Yin elements). 3. The bedroom is in general, suppose to be more Yin than Yang. (Yin represents rest and Yang activity). 4. Some other FS practitioners would say that too much water i.e. even in paintings especially placed in the room may cause difficulty as too much water itself represents difficulty. 5. This is why, for example, advise is usually not to have a water position at the centre of a house or on the roof e.g. blue tiles on the roof. 6. When a person is suppose to go for an operation, the doctor will advise the patient what are his chances. For example, the doctor will say, that the chances are 60% successful for such an operation. 7. A parallel can also be drawn to Feng Shui. Most Feng Shui theories, could apply to most people. 8. For example, if there is a poison aimed at the main door, most Feng Shui practitioners may say that the chances of `inauspiciousness' affecting the person is e.g. 80%. Perhaps, maybe because of circumstances, or if one has better luck to compensate this, this `20%' may not be affected by it. 9. Thus, what we are always trying to find are situations where, it will most likely either affect a person or alternatively find cures that could succeed. But this is not always 100% successful as mentioned under Para 8. above. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Jennifer, 1. Yes, I understand what you mean. As this concept of a cube saves space but lacks privacy for the four parties. 2. I believe, it will take sometime for you to get used to this concept. In my country, even large companies that has space constraints use the 5 feet by 5 feet work top, in your `cubicle' formation. 3. The only advise, here is not to place a rectangle or square table in the centre of this cube such that there are 4 pointer corners aimed at the back of each person. A circle table is still acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil
