Kieron
Greetings!I am considering remodeling my kitchen sometime in the next year. I have several questions. My house is a west-facing house, and the kitchen is in the northeast corner.1. Will Grand Duke be offended if changes are made? I understand that Grand Duke is in the east at this time. Will Grand Duke change position?2. We are thinking of building what is called an "island" (except that one end of the island would be attached to a wall. Since this would appear to "point" toward the center of the kitchen, is this a bad idea?3. We are thinking of placing the sink and refrigerator on one side of the kitchen. The stove would be placed approximately opposite them on the "island", in order to use space efficiently. Is it inauspicious to place these kitchen appliances (water and fire) in such a way? Thanks for your advice.Sincerely,Joe
Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 1, 1999 Staff Share Posted November 1, 1999 Dear Joe,For next year, the Grand Duke will be located at 112.5 degrees (at Lesser South East position)which is the year of the `Dragon'.Please note that the `new' position of the Grand Duke for next year is between 5 Feb 2000 to 23 Jan 2001 and not 1 Jan 2000.Please see below:- Quote On 10/29/99 8:18:30 PM, Anonymous wrote:Greetings!I am considering remodeling mykitchen sometime in the nextyear. Where possible if your kitchen is located in the East, avoid renovating at the location until after 4 February 2000. For a Chinese, it is advisable not to renovate 15 days starting from 5 Feb 2000 as this is considered the Lunar New Year. Quote 2. Is itinauspicious to place thesekitchen appliances (water andfire) in such a way? Where possible, the stove needs a supporting wall. It should where possible not be at the "island" as it is not `supported' from behind. Depending on the wind conditions, the stove `on the island' is not protected at all. It would still not be adviseable also to place the water position at the centre of the kitchen as this is considered inauspicious.Warmest Regards,Cecil
