A straight path... is not good in Feng Shui

1. Under Chinese culture, it is considered not goodto have a straightwalking-path. As it is believed that spirits go in a straight-line and curved or zig-zag paths are a no no for them.

2. This is why,there is always a zig-zag path leading towards a pavillion.

3. In this picture, we notice a straight public path.However, it was tiled to give an illusion of a wavy path.

4. There is a popular Malay saying "If you can't bring Mohammad to the mountain bring the mountain to Mohammad?"

5. Here, if one cannot curve the path, one curve the tiles....

There are lots of winding paths... in this condo.

Perhaps, the developer has decided to make it difficult for "spirits" to meander in the condo parks. (As the idea is that spirits are suppose to move in a straight line and not follow a winding path!)

Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui;
As a rule of thumb: avoid having a straight path.
In this illustration, this client's home nearly wanted to have a fence gate that directly open towards the main door.
After seeking advice, he changed the design and the side gate is no longer directly facing the main door.

Winding paths may seem illogical to some individuals due to the slightly longer route they create. However, the main intention behind these paths is to encourage a slower walking pace, as well as to align with the Chinese belief that spirits cannot navigate through winding routes.
