Hello,

There are ceiling beams in my vaulted bedroom ceilings which we were told was there to help offset the bad chi from the corners of which the ceilings meet; could this be true? I was always told that beams above the bed were always bad. If it is bad, what can we do to help offset this besides putting in a lowered flat ceiling?

Thank you so much for your expertise!

These are some of the considerations:-

1. The plus points are that your home's ceiling is pretty high and equally the beam seems to be equally small in size when compared.

2. Thus most likely these beams are suppose to strengthen the ceiling and not to support a floor.

3. The difference here is that if the beams were to support a floor (loading) then it is of a greater concern as it is suppose to exert a greater"concentrated" force directly downwards.

4. Fortunately, as mentioned earlier; yours is merely a roof (or a supporting frame of sorts) for the roof. Thus, in addition to such a high roof-line; in my personal opinion is in-significant i.e. pose a minor threat if any.

5. The slant of the roof covering part of the bed is again not an issue.

6. "To help offset the bad chi from the corners of which the ceilings meet" should be taken with a "pinch of salt" i.e. in my personal opinion, un-substantiated or no pastprecedence of concern in Feng Shui.
