Under symbolism in Feng Shui; more importantly, the object should not: look fierce, seems "hungry"; thin or skinny. That sort of thing.
It is quite subjective; but overall, since this is a family home, consult with family member about their opinion of the object.
The so called "lucky cat" is not a Chinese origin. It originates from Japan. Yeah, the one where one of it's limbs (paws) waving.
This "lucky cat" looks more like a pussy cat.. Thus, it would be a joke if somehow someone mistook it for a lion or leopard or jaguar of sorts... *smile*
