In my opinion, these are some considerations:-
1. Often, homes with different levels have different built up space. And often the home "gets" narrower or less floor area as it "rises" up. Thus, the attic often has the lowest floor area.
2. In considering the center-point of the house, best to look or use the ground level to determine the centrepoint.
3. In my opinion, missing corners for the ground floor is an important consideration. Same often goes to the 2nd storey. Higher up, it depends. There is no one rule that fits all sort of thing.
