Master Cecil,

I joined your forum only recently. Read about your warning on undertaking renovations in the East in 2011. Too late for me, I did some major renovations and it has been a very tough year.

My home is North facing with a natural reserve at the back (South) of the house. A creek flows through the reserve. My understanding is the back of the house should be protected (tortoise). I do have some small trees in the backyard.

I have changed the landscape in the East by removing some old trees. In 2012, I want to plant a hedge all along the boundary wall upto the back boundary wall. I also want to build a retaining wall on the back boundary and grow a hedge.

Can I go ahead and plant a hedge along the east boundary wall and build a retaining wall along the back (south) boundary wall to plant a hedge on top, or should I wait until 2013? Can you please give some advice. I do not want to make the mistake of 2011. Regards

3.1 Usually, the fundamental key success factor is to determine the facing direction of the home.
3.2 In some instances, the back of your home could even be the frontage or facing direction.

4.1 If the back of the house is considered the frontage or should have clear space e.g. water star #8 under Flying Star, then it may be a detriment to plant hedges at the back area if it is now open space.
4.2 Without proper investigations, placing a mountain position wrongly can be equally just as bad.
4.3 Above reference materials shows that locations or sectors in RED should avoid renovations in 2012 or 2013.
5. Therefore, both Shapes and Forms and Flying Stars should best to looked into, for peace of mind. Otherwise, it is all trial and error....
