I have been given some striped wallpaper, which I intended to decorate a couple of rooms in. I have now just been told that stripes can cause Sha Qi is this true?
I have two patterns, one is a background of white with a pale green stripe. The other is a background of white, with a pale blue stripe. The over all look of both is pale and predominantly white. Please advise.

Dear Anon,
You have to look closely whether the stripes form a three dimensional image e.g. of a cube or corner.
If it is "flat" horizontal or vertical lines, I do not see any reason for it to become a `poison arrow'. I.e. it has to be pointed. If it just scrolls across the entire lenght of the wall paper, in my opinion, this is not Sha Qi.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

I doubt there would be a problem with the stripes since the overall effect is not of sharp contrast however I have experienced sha qi from black and white stripes.

Dear Jennifer,
From past experience, I share the same views as you i.e. especially if it is black and white and image of cubes.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
