myfs_155690
Hi, I would like to ask if a duplex unit which has the bathrooms (2nd level) located directly above the kitchen (1st level), does this mean very bad luck for th family?
Staff Cecil Lee Posted September 7, 2012 Staff Share Posted September 7, 2012 These are some considerations: 1. Several factors should be considered regarding home design and plumbing. Primarily, it relates to common sense, which Feng Shui principles often reflect. 2. It is not uncommon for homes to have a toilet situated directly above a kitchen. 3. However, a significant concern arises when sewerage pipes are positioned directly above cooking areas or places where food and drinking water are prepared or stored. 4. The rationale is clear: if a sewerage pipe were to leak, gravity would facilitate the flow of contaminants. 5. In some cases, homeowners have no alternative but to have sewerage pipes located above their stoves, and symbolic objects like a hulu or bottle gourd are sometimes placed between these pipes and the stove for protection. 6. Many contemporary homes mitigate this risk by waterproofing the entire toilet floor, making leaks less likely, except for the sewerage pipe, which typically remains unconcealed with a U shape. 7. Therefore, having a sewerage pipe directly above a stove is less desirable than having it above a sink or shower area. 8. The points raised are not particularly novel; they warrant reflection, although it is preferable for such situations to be avoided altogether. 9. From a practical perspective, achieving a perfect home is often unrealistic, as compromises are frequently necessary, even when constructing a new home from the ground up.
