Dear Master,
Thanks in advance for taking the time help us. We recently received the key to our new apartment completed in March 2013. According to google map and compass measurement it is a S2/N2 based on the direction taken from the main door and apartment entrance. The apartment is located on 6th floor. We are both East Group people.
The designated kitchen location is next to the main door at the South sector of the nine grid. In Period 8 we understand S2/N2 has the double 8 located in the South sector.
1) Having a kitchen in the South will be bad for us?
2) We are thinking of relocating the kitchen to the north grid that has the 947 star combination. Will it be a better option? Will having the kitchen in the North be bad also for us since we are kua 3 and 4?
Thank you again.

These are some considerations:
1. In theory, what you mentioned is acceptable.
2. In practise (NON-Feng Shui considerations), since this is an apartment; and especially if the balcony is full view "of the public". Often, many Management Council of such apartments forbid e.g. hanging clothes at the balcony etc...
2.1. Thus, not sure if one infringe the code of your apartment. And given that this is the frontage; "open air cooking may arise complaints from neighours of the smell from this "balcony" kitchen.
2.2. Most likely there is no proper wash basin at the balcony area. Thus, processed food and washing etc. may have to be done at the original kitchen.
3. You wrote: 1) Having a kitchen in the South will be bad for us?
3.1 Common sense says that if the overall Feng Shui especially the apartment has exceptional or excellent Shapes and Forms; this is a plus point.
3.2 Thus, if the apartment already scores 80 marks, having a kitchen in the South won't kill.
3.3 But if the apartment's OVERALL Feng Shui is at the borderline mark then having a kitchen in the South may be bad.
4. Some homes (apartments) are already polished gem or unpolished gem; having a kitchen in the South can still be acceptable.

5. Therefore, IT DEPEND's! If the apartment is already considered like a 10 year old run down 1,000 cc car; even a flaw like having a kitchen in the south can "KILL".
6. Thus, having a kitchen is NOT CAST in stone.

1. You wrote: 1) Having a kitchen in the South will be bad for us?
2. Common sense says: " To withstand having a kitchen in the South under P8 "

3.Fix-the-Leak, First!
3.1 If possible try to fix as many leaks (other than the kitchen in the south) as possible and ifopportunity to enhance then go for it.
4.The Concept of Maximizing Marks Hopefully from a FAIL to a PASS or better! This concept is quite similar to Para 3. Many of us have been applying this principle when we were in school. Thus this is nothing new.

This is again, pure common sense:-
Especially if the master bedroom door and bedroom 3 door leading to the balcony are ajar;
Frequent cooking would bring the cooking vapours into either or both bedrooms.
Worse still, if one use bottle gas; and should the fire extinguish and the gas leaks... it may leak directly into the (external) but also blow into either or both of the bedrooms.
