caid
Hi there,I would like to study FS and read books and articles on the FS websites.Almost all what I found is very descriptive (what is a good or bad FS) but my search for the whys and wherefores is pretty much unfulfilled. Which are the books, which really go in depth? Also, I want to find books, which teach you how the use the FS compass and its 30 tiers.Thank you for your helpStephane
poohbearr88
Hi Stephane,Check out the 'American Feng Shui Institute'website: www.amfengshui.com. I know they sell a compass and he has a book that goes into detail about it.They are located in Monterey Park, CA.If by chance that is the incorrect website address, trying under Yahoo search. Good luck. Linda
Administrator
Dear Stephane,From my opinion, the best Feng Shui books are not in English but in Mandarineither written by practising Masters in Taiwan or in Hong Kong.Unfortunately, one needs to know Mandarin in order to read such books. Many of such books are also not translated into English and currently manyEnglish educated Feng Shui authors are capitalising on this but many arestill no `match' for the `originals' although many English speaking Fengshui authors try to make a good attempt at it.Currently I will not mention the books here but we have found fundamentalflaws in the `current batch' of Feng Shui books on theories relating toPillars of destiny and the Flying star. For example, one well researched author got the Pillars of Destiny `gender'wrong and thus making anyone trying to use the steps... for such acalculation flawed. Another author got the Flying Star interpretationwrongly. Another author uses the year under the Lunar calendar and uses adifferent calendar method to find the day, month and year. This is likecomparing apples with oranges. (The true traditional method of calculatingthe Pillars of Destiny is to use entirely the Lunar calendar system and thisis the practise of expert Feng Shui Masters). For recommendations on books, you can check out the following messagesextracted from the forum:-http://www.geomancy.net/fs/bbs-yesbooks.htmAs for the Feng Shui compass, In Derek Walter's book on " Feng Shui ", hedevised a ready to use Feng Shui compass and it can readily be used (exceptthat you need to by a compass). I have a picture of this book athttp://www.geomancy.net/fs/books.htm Alternatively, a user here has alreadyrecommended you to check out the American Feng Shui Institutes site (sheprovided the link) for this in her message. There is also a plastic Feng Shui kit by Kwok Mun Ho, I have a link athttp://www.geomancy.net/books/fs.htm (with a shortcomment of it).Warmest Regards,Cecil-----Original Message-----From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'feng-shui-books' suppressed 'feng-shui-books' suppressed>Date: Monday, March 08, 1999 8:21 PMSubject: whys and wherefores Quote From: "Stephane Roche" This message is sent from "feng-shui-books" Mailing List.Hi there,I would like to study FS and read books and articles on the FS websites.Almost all what I found is very descriptive (what is a good or bad FS) butmy search for the whys and wherefores is pretty much unfulfilled.
