These are some of the considerations:

1. Location, location and location

1.1. If the home / apartment has excellent or good Feng Shui; there is a lot of buffer for the homeowner/breadwinner.

1.2. Thus even if the facing direction is not as good; and because the home already has good Feng Shui; usually not a major issue.

1.3. But, even if the facing is a good direction for the person; it does not automatically mean that all is smooth sailing. For example, if the home is similar to a 10 year old 1,000cc car; even for a west facing person buying a NW facing home may face problems.

2. It is a bonus if the home's birth chart e.g. good Shapes and Forms plus Flying Stars are overall good + if the house is also suitable to the person NW facing for a west group person.

If one has the time, can check out the above link.

For example, in any development; a home/apartment can/may fall into a "bell curve".

Thus, if the home is at the bottom or rock bottom of the bell curve; even if the home suits the west group person; it may not be as good as a home that does not suit the west group person but the home is ranked high on the top or tip-of "bell curve" (with excellent Feng Shui).

Another useful resource where in some instances, superficial application of Feng Shui may not work in some instances:-
