myfs_161336
Dear Sir, I have been reading your posts and I like to ask for advice on the following questions: Main Door facing Door of Bomb Shelter in Condo Please look at attached layout. We are very interested in the unit in a condo. However, its main door is opposite a a main door that leads to a bomb shelter staircase. The weird part of this staircase is that it is a criss-cross instead of spiral. Lucky or Unlucky Numbers Also, I like to ask, how important are personal lucky or unlucky numbers in fengshui? A FS has provided some personalised unlucky numbers for my husband that we should not purchase for door or block numbers. Are they very important for consideration? Staff Cecil Lee Posted May 8, 2016 Staff Share Posted May 8, 2016 These are some considerations:-1. Main Door facing Door of Bomb Shelter in condo1.1. The main consideration under symbolism in Feng Shui is that the Main door should not be facing a staircase that leads down to the lower unit.1.2. For example, when say the bomb shelter door is (always) open and from one's main door one can see the staircase; then this is not ideal.1.3. But, based on building regulations; the good news is that all these doors must remain shut at all times. If so, and also even if the door is opened fully; it opens to only the landing (of the staircase) then this is a non-issue. 1.4. If so, it is equivalent to one's main door facing another unit's main door. In some new condos e.g. The Palette, they even have a folding screen to hide the bomb shelter.1.5. Another similar situation is that some find it inauspicious to have the main door face the lift door. Again, this has more to do with common sense than Feng Shui. As if one often opens the main door; it is in full view of the lift entrance etc...2. Lucky or Unlucky Numbers2.1. Frankly, under Numerology; there are at least 1,000 methods or formulas.2.2. Thus, if one use a specific formula; it can result in certain numbers being lucky to a person. 2.3. However, another set of formula; may deem such numbers inauspicious.2.4. Thus, this is akin to "one man's meat is another man's poison".2.5. For example, SIA has a long tradition of never naming a seat #13. Thus, one can never find a seat numbered A13 or B13 or C13 on SIA ever. 2.6. Traditionally, such a number may not appeal to some westerners. And only some are superstitious about the number #13. 2.7. To me and perhaps to you also; you may not find any issue with such a number.2.8. Again, just a few months ago; a Filipino client bought a unit #04-04 in an existing condo in Rivervale Sengkang. The owner of that unit had problem trying to sell it for the past year. And only after the Filipino client bought it; the agent then revealed to them that this was an "unlucky" number to some Chinese. My Filipino client says, they don't have an issue with it.2.9. Here, based on common sense; even if the new owner is not adverse to say #04-04; in the foreseeable future; if they do decide to sell or exit this unit; they may like the previous owner face some problems trying to sell the unit. Again, do take note that this has nothing to do with Feng Shui at all. 2.10 Thus, if I am personally aware of it; I would not want to commit buying such a unit as it may in the near future affect my home's value and marketability. This is thus the main consideration; rather than whether the number to me is good or inauspicious. Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 10, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 10, 2016 To some is unlucky. To some neutral or even auspicious..
Staff Cecil Lee Posted May 5, 2022 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2022 Question: House is beside the staircase. so to the left of the main door. the staircase is going downwards. Any potential issues with that? Reply: 1. Not facing main door is fine or okay. 2. By Civil Defense = it is a requirement for all "emergency" stairs or exit stairs doors MUST be closed at all times. In case a unit is on fire and smoke gets into this stairwell.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted August 30, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 30, 2022 WHAT'S IN A NUMBER? OKAY FOR ME? One man's meat is another man's poison 1. House or unit numbers has nothing to do with the science of Feng Shui. 2. More towards a person's culture. For a Chinese, most of us are aware that number 4 or 44 or 04 or 14 is generally considered inauspicious by MOST Cantonese dialect group. And this has also spilled over to many Chinese. Especially those in the Far East such as Singapore and Malaysia. 3. Even SOME Koreans also find number 4 inauspicious for them. 4. In past forum messages, I have also mentioned that if one were to take a flight on Singapore Airlines: 1st class or business class, the seat numbers always jump from no, 12 e.g. 12A, 12B, 12C, 12D to say 14A, 14B, 14C.. 14D. One will always never find a seat number 13 on their flight. 5. The problem with a number 4 or 44 or 04 or 14 is that sometimes if we ourselves find it okay to live with such a number; but WAIT until a re-sale. As it is nearly impossible to convince a potential buyer otherwise - especially if they are biased or have doubts or don't feel good with such a number!
