Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 10, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 10, 2016 Taman Jurong was in the 1960's to 1980's The Central hub of Jurong. Then, the major road leading towards Jurong was Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim. At that time, all the amenities were located there. Such as Jurong Drive-in cinema; Ice skating rink; and the various eateries to cater for most of the needs of the near-by factories and homes at familiar names like Kang Ching, Tah Ching, Yuan Ching Road. In the 1990's when "Jurong" Shifted towards Boon Lay and encroaching towards PIE and KJE; This is no longer The Central it once was. As the garvity shifted towards Boon Lay MRT. Which is today considered as The Central part of Jurong West. While Jurong East has another hub... Nevertheless, just look at the uniqueness of its nature vegetation and trees.. these flats were built in the early 1970's... under the late esteemed Dr Goh Keng Swee's time.
