Bee Pooh
Hi Cecil I have to install an ancestor altar table but I realise those ready made are higher than my existing table. I saw the fengshui ruler for yin. My current Guan Yin table height is 126cm with side wings but actual height is 115cm. I need to custom made a table lower than 117cm. Is 112cm ideal for ancestor table or should be be same height as 117cm. Appreciate your advise. Thank you.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 26, 2018 Staff Share Posted March 26, 2018 Please note that there is another side to the Chinese altar. And yes! It has to do also with common sense. The rationale is simple. Other than those placed on the floor; altars especially for other gods e.g. Guan Yin etc.. are always at least 126cm plus minus. The next best range is approximately 42" or 35" in height. But this is never used for the simple reason that it is WITHIN REACH of a playful child's hand. Can't blame a 3 or 5 year old child if they stretch their hands and........ swipe the whole altar down... It is not like Humpty Dumpty (HD) had a great fall.. Here, one is not talking about HD.. Chinese deity(ies). This is not the same. In addition, such an altar cannot face a dining table....
Bee Pooh
Hi Thank you for the advise. Should the altar be on the left or right side of Guan Im table ie if I am standing same side with the Guan Im.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted April 1, 2018 Staff Share Posted April 1, 2018 Standing facing the altar: The ancestor tablet should be to the LEFT of the altar. And slightly lower than the deity which is suppose to be to the RIGHT of the altar.

Bee Pooh
Hi Cecil Merry Christmas to you. I need your advise. I need to move into my son house temporary with the ancestral tablet before I move into my own new house. It is ok.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted December 20, 2018 Staff Share Posted December 20, 2018 Thanks! Happy Holidays! It is acceptable. More importantly, respect the tablet by placing it in a “respectful location” Okay where? Based on common sense... of course not on the floor etc...
