There may be two considerations:

ONE: It is possible that the column has a Sha Qi or poison arrow aimed towards the bed.

1. For example, refer to SE Master Bedroom:

1.1. A wooden wardrope has a poison arrow of around 40cm especially if it is of plywood. For hardwood such as teak or solid oak the poison arrow can be further of 60cm.

1.1. In your photo, a concrete beam or corner is harder and can have a poison arrow at 45 degrees of around 1 metre sha qi:

TWO: Flying Star Feng Shu and unknown Flying Stars:

2. This is beyond this thread.

2.1. It has to do with plotting Flying Star numbers to locate what may be the imbalance of that sector if any.

2.2. Flying Star Feng Shui has several numbers or a combination of these numbers to trigger imbalances be it health and or quarrels.

2.2.1. For example: #5 = misfortune/sickness #2 = sickness. And #9 may fuel or further inflame #5 and #2 etc...

3. For example, reproduced from above sample is SE.

3.1. South East (SE) has an imbalance of #3 with #4 = Quarrels, conflicts and legal entanglements. Thus, the caution for this specific Master bedroom is to avoid GREEN colour else lots of quarrels and conflicts.

3.2. Who sleeps where is also NOT BY ACCIDENT. It is determined by applying Eight House Chart.  Where Husband = spook and Wife = Prosperity as shown just below the Avoid ....

4. This chart combines the science of Compass School Feng Shui which consists of both the Flying Star Feng Shui and Eight House Feng Shui.

Case Study: Another Sample Feng Shui Chart - Further to what I mentioned, under scientific Feng Shui, Flying Star Feng Shui is applied to check for any imbalances (disarm) and auspicious sectors (enhance).

1. In this extract of a Feng Shui chart:-

1.1. Part of the Master Bedroom is close to North.

1.2. And North has two very nasty combinations of #5 misfortune/sickness combined with #2 sickness.

2. Advised client to place a specific traditional Feng Shui cure (non-commercial) in the master bedroom wardrope to prevent health issues:-

2. Master bedroom at NE also has a combination of #7 with #9 = Internal Intestine Illness. Thus a further cure is added to the window side of the Master Bedroom:-

3. Again, who sleeps where in the Master bedroom is no accident:

3.1. Where NE = Mr = Prosperity and Mrs = Disaster. Thus Master sleeps closer to the window to be the "Knight in shining armour shielding Mrs."
