Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 2, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 2, 2020 1. Frankly, this has more to do with Chinese customs + symbolism. 2. Thus as the above implies, more related to the Chinese culture. 3. Therefore, if one is a non-Chinese, often can overlook this area. 4. In our Chinese customs, it is bad luck for someone to give another Chinese a clock (such as a wall clock) as a gift! Here, it implies that one wants that other person dead, ASAP! 5. Coming back to your question: When we enter a house, a clock facing (us) when we open the main door.. symbolises hope for death.. towards the persons living, there. IN SUMMARY " The text highlights the significance of Chinese customs and symbolism, particularly the negative connotations associated with gifting clocks, which are perceived as symbols of death and bad luck within the culture. It emphasizes the importance of understanding these cultural nuances to avoid unintentional offense. " - Cecil Lee, Geomancy.net
