I have frequented this area often as it serves as a shortcut from the east coast to the Hougang area towards Sembawang - especially in the 1980s. It is considered unfavorable for the front door of a unit to face the stairs in theory. 2. However, in Singapore, it is mandated by civil defense law that all emergency exit staircase doors must remain closed at all times to aid in escape and prevent smoke from spreading to the stairs. Most distinct is stack 126 where the common bin lobby opening is within an open space and in close proximity of it's master bedroom 2. As for stack 150, often the living room windows are opened.
