Dear Cecil & Robert,
Thanks for the clarification on which areas not to do renovations in for this year. This leads to a few more questions about plans I had for the near future and what "renovations" entails.
#1. I had planned to put closet doors on my closet which is located in the east. Would hanging tapestries be a better idea to cover the closet?
#2. Would re-painting rooms in the E, S, SW, N, and NW be regarded as "renovation or activity"?
#3. My laundry room floor is rotted in the SW. I had planned to replace the rotted plywood and lay new flooring. Is this advisable?
#4. Also in the SW, I wanted to add a screen door to be able to open the door in the summer. Advisable?
and #5. In our office (in the East), our desk is built onto the wall. When we work, we face the East and, as I have heard it is unwise to directly face the Grand Duke, I had planned to have the desk moved onto the other possible wall; facing North (but still in the East sector). This would entail unscrewing the existing desk and using screws to attach the new desk to the North facing wall.
Sorry for this long list of questions; but I value your comments and opinions.
thanks, julie

Dear Julie,
Please accept my apologies as I realised that I had wrongly quoted the
directions to avoid for renovations. I guess, I was too sleep. Sorry!
Therefore, please ignore all earlier references on the wrong directions
given.
The correct information should be as follows:-
===================================
For this year, avoid doing renovations ONLY in the EAST = 90 degrees (Grand
Duke and 3 killings location).
For next year, avoid doing renovations at TWO locations::-
=============================================
1.South = 180 degrees (3 killings) and
2. East- South-East = 112.5 degress (position of Grand Duke)
Once again, please accept my apologies.
Please see below for futher comments:-

For this year, try haning tapestries would be better.

#2. Would re-painting rooms in the E, S, SW, N, and NW be regarded as

Avoid painting only the room in the East. For S, SW, N and NW this is ok.

Quote
#3. My laundry room floor is rotted in the SW. I had planned to replace
the rotted plywood and lay new flooring. Is this advisable?

No problem. As clarified, this year you need not worry so long as it is not
at the East.

#4. Also in the SW, I wanted to add a screen door to be able to open the
door in the summer. Advisable?

No problem. Do proceed.

Yes, it is indeed beter to face North. The concept of the Grand Duke is that
not to face him. Sitting at the East Sector is not considered this.

Cecil

I saw a question about whether painting was considered "renovations" or not.
I havent' seen a reply, and I also wanted to know because I had painting
plans.
Thanks,

Dear Nansi,
The key to understanding this is based on the following:-
Grand Duke does not like to be:-
1. Disturbed.
Here one should not do construction work at the location. This includes
repairs
and renovations.
2. Touched.
Here, this would imply that painting is consider `touching' him.
So, based on the second point, please don't paint the walls on the East.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil Lee
