Dear Rasika,
Under the Compass School of Feng Shui,
1. Eight House Theory:
Under this theory, it is good for a breadwinner to have a good orientation
of the main door (suited) to him/her. For a building, the best choice is to
have it sited in a good site and enjoy firstly good shapes and form. This
will be advantages to everyone occupying the building.
2. Flying Star Theory.
The direction of the main entrance door will determine the `birth chart' of
the house i.e. the birth chart of the house/building is determined based on
its main door direction.
3. Thus, if one uses the ordinary compass to take a reading, it should be
taken from the centrepoint of the house/building. And not whether one is
standing at the main entrance looking out or looking in. (If one uses the
Chinese Luopan, I consider this another method, and one should base on the
instructions for this).
4. Overall, this site uses the ordinary compass so that it will be widely
understood by everyone all over the world who do not have a Chinese Luopan
nor know how to use it.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Ideally, the entrance to an office or business should be orientated so
that it faces one of the owner's best direction. This direction considered
when standing outside looking at the building or standing inside the
building & looking out?
