Dear Feng Shui Expert:
I happened to link into your site accidentally. It's overwhelming with tons of informations. Like you have mentioned, it's definitely going to take me a while to get familiar with the navigation.
I do have a very confusing issue here. I happened to know that some feng shui consultants out here (N. America) use the personal natal number to chart the 4 best/worst direction. I have read many books on feng shui and none has mentioned the natal number except the Kua number. Does using the natal number take it a step further to get the customized direction. It does somehow make sense to me since it will mean that everyone who was borned in the same month and year will end up with different number for his or her best/worst direction. (By using the Kua number for best/worst direction calculation, people who are borned in the same month and year will end up with similar good/bad direction.)
I am indeed very confused and would really appreciate your clarification on the above. Also, how is the calculation on personal natal number done.
I am also very interested in signing up for the online feng shui courses. Please let me know whether I can participate from America?
Thank you,
Sue

Dear Susan,
1. Yes, the degree of `accuracy' depends on the depth in which Feng Shui is analysed.
As you have mentioned, a person's analysis can be done at a general level e.g. by looking at his/her YEAR of birth.
On the other hand, at a more specific level is to look further into the YEAR, MONTH, DAY and HOUR of birth.
2. Traditionally, Feng Shui at the `health' of the `property' such as the environment, the site, the land, the building. It looks at the inanimate objects.
3. What you are referring to is Pillars of Destiny or equally called Eight Characters, Ba Zi or Four Pillars.
4. The reason is because the foundation of Traditional Chinese method is the Five Elements and Yin and Yang.
5. Under the Five Elements, the proper method is to analyse a person into one of the five elements.
6. Not only to identify his personal element but the STRENGTH of the element is an important factor.
7. Thus as there are many different `methods' used, it should closely follow the concept mentioned under Para 4.
8. As the Five Element concept is used as a common denominator, all various concepts and principles should be easily identified and based on the Five Elements.
9. Thus, the proper technique is to apply the Five Elements Concept to Pillars of Destiny. In turn, Flyings Star (which analyses the house birth chart is based on this.)
10. Do take your time to browse thru this site. As you mentioned there are lots of resources.
11. Forum messages are equally a good means of understand key issues. Especially since the questions are not `scupltured' but are true questions posted by users in need of advise.
12. Feel free to check out the course at www.geomancy-online.com or www.geomancy-u.com as it is available to everyone.
13. You can also the forum topic: " Caricatures: Laughter is good medicine " to give one a flavour of Traditional Feng Shui and other forms of "hocus pocus".
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
