I have a basic question: if a house is not a square shape, but rather
a distorted L shape, when overlaying the 9-square grid on top of the
floor plan, do one count the missing corners as if they are there?
i.e. if the education corner on the 9-square grid is missing, do I
consider the corner missing completely, and go about counting the
next square (that is there) as a regular square (with its own
element). So let's say my house is missing the education corner, this
is the north-east corner, this corner on the 9-square grid is
actually empty since it is outside the house structure (it is in the
yard). The square next to this corner is the career corner, )going
west), the career corner is situated North on the 9-square grid. This
is occupied by my living room. Do I count the living room as the
education corner (with its Earth element), or do I count the living
room as the career corner (with its Water element)? Thanks for any
enlightment you may offer. Anne.

Dear Anne,
For an `L' shaped layout or even a distorted `L' shaped layout plan, it is usually best to divide the `L' into two rectangles or two squares.
Each rectangle/square is evaluated overlaying the 9-square grid.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
