Staff Cecil Lee Posted October 28, 2000 Staff Share Posted October 28, 2000 If you visit Singapore especially Housing and Development Board (HDB) government developed flats, one can commonly find one of these altars outside some these HDB flats.These altars of various sizes are made of tin or metal sheets painted in auspicious RED. Please note that candles used are also red in colour. Chinese do not use white candle sticks on these altars.White signify `death'.
