I have a Spanish style home, soft-pink stucco, with red tile roof. The front screen doors and around the windows are black metal. The house trim is wood painted dark brown and there are 5 3-foot wood beams that stick out above the garage (decoration) and a 5 by 9 wood front deck. I would like to repaint the house and make it more balanced. I was thinking of a soft sand color, to offset the fire and earth elements, but am not sure. And what color trim? I would appreciate suggestions.
Thank you for your help.

Dear Karen,
1. Red tile roof or clay coloured roof tile is a common preferred choice.
2. For painting the entire house, it is always best to paint the walls white or alternatively pastel shades of any other colour be it beige or cream - which are acceptable.
3. This is because, other than white or off-white; cream or beige or shades of it is often the choice of colour of architects and interior designers.
So long as the colour(s) are light or pastel shades (making the wall bright) this should be acceptable.
Here, the idea is (other than the bedroom) is to make the house `bright' rather than dark.
4. Another reason is that, if there is an imbalance at a particular sector, it can be `cured'. Normally, the Flying Star analysis is used to analyse and propose a `cure'.
Alternatively, (if one does not want to utilise say, the Flying Star, `tell-tale' signs (not so serious) problems are related to family members frequently getting sick all the time etc... A proper cure can do the `trick'.
5. For the trim, in my opinion, you should discuss with your family member and find a consensus rather seek `FS' advise as in my opinion, it `does not' have much effect. More towards, how it looks to you and your family members.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
