i found out that my mom's number is 1 and my dad's is 7. they have a lot of trouble right now with money and work... the front door of their house is turning to the north-east.
(the house was built at 1986). my Q: what can they do to get more lack at life?

Frankly, if Traditional Feng Shui is being applied, there are many principles involved in accessing both the home; the `fit' of the home to your parents (breadwinner); the birth chart of the house and even Pillars of Destiny of each family member.
Another instance is that a North-East house (main door facing) may need additional attention especially since this is the (NE = devil's gate).
For a start, you could try to apply the Eight House Theory using the steps shown under

At the same time, you can try to apply Shapes and Form Feng Shui.
