gerryp2000
Hi,I am new to Feng Shui and I'd like to understand the chinese compass points. In feng shui, south is shown at the bottom.Does this mean, for example, my bedroom which is in the north but in the chinese compass is it now in the south. Therefore my kitchen which is in the south, but in the chinese compass is it now in the north.Does that make sense to you? Please advise,Gerry
Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 10, 2002 Staff Share Posted January 10, 2002 Dear Gerry,Thank you for bring up a relevant question especially for new users here.1. Traditionally, it is good to understand why the Chinese use the compass based on TOP (South) and BOTTOM (North).2. If we look carefully, China is in the Northern Hemi-sphere. Here, majority of the mountain ranges are in the North.3. If one had visited Beijing, Capital of China, many houses, have their windows and main doors facing South. In addition, the rationale why there are no windows at the North is because of dusty storms of `yellow' dusts that sweeps from the North.4. Under this link, the Four Symbolic Animals concept:http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-four.htm5. You can find a picture of a `tortise' hill (North) and Bird (South) - South Facing House. (Bird is actually a Phoenix)Or alternatively click on the attachment to this message (only available if one logs in to the forum). Filename: bird.gif6. At Geomancy.net, all our resources are based on the ordinary compass i.e. North to South.Since the ordinary compass is widely available in the world, therefore, we made sure that all our resources apply to users internationally using the ordinary compass.7. I feel that, when we use any resources, we should make sure that we read the resource totally. For example, if we follow a book's step-by-step guide we should follow what the author recommends thru.It would not be good to read one book halfway and follow another advice from another site or person as no two methology may be the same.Warmest Regards,Cecil Lee Quote On 1/10/2002 5:32:00 AM, Anonymous wrote:Hi,I am new to Feng Shui and I'dlike to understand the chinesecompass points.
