Staff Cecil Lee Posted February 5, 2002 Staff Share Posted February 5, 2002 Dear Users from Argentina,Subject: E-mail Address ending with .ar (Argentina)1. Please take note that our servers have blocked the entire .ar (Argentina addresses).2. Therefore, any user who comes from Argentina and using e-mail address e.g. abc@cde.ar or abc@xxxx.ar will not be able to participate thru the mailing list option.3. This is because many of the ISPs (large and small) in Argentina allow their servers to open relay spams. And some of them have even forged some of our domain names. This has led to receiving forged or rejected mails - supposely from us. 4. And these ISPs are not responsive and continue to allow open relays e.g. allowing their users or third party to sent spams to the international community.5. We therefore, have no choice but to ban the entire .ar country domain names. As there can be at any one time 30 or more `unbehaved' .ar country servers trying to connect to our servers with the forged headers.6. If you are in Argentina (.ar) and want to participate thru the mailing list option; please use an account such as hotmail.com to `listen' in or participate thru the mailing list option. 7. So far, this is the only country that which we feel is unresponsive to the international outcry to stop open mail relays (where many servers of .ar companies are helping spammers to sent spam). Requests to the country's ISP is like sending mail to a blackhole.8. We therefore, regret that we will continue to ban all .ar mails until, some `law' takes in-to this country's internet community. If you are from Argentina, we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Warmest Regards,Cecil Lee
