myfs_78598
Hi,I have a 60-gallon fish tank on the 2nd floor balcony facing the street. It is a rectangular tank with the longer side parallel to the north wall and facing our house from the street the tank would be on your righthand side. Currently I have four three-inch gold fish (not the round variety but the slim variety closely resembling the Koi) - predominantly white with red spots, predominantly red with white spots, an almost pure white and a light gold/yellow-colored fish.I was born in November 1968, my wife May 1965 and a April 2000 born baby girl.Since the fish tank is in the balcony, is the balcony considered 'outside the house?'In all articles I've read, the fish tank is supposed to be inside the house. Is my fish tank location acceptable? How many fish can I keep? What colors should they be?The strips of glass used to reinforce the upper and bottom corners of the fish tank are made of mirrors with the reflecting side facing outside. Is that alright?I hope you could help me on this. I am really fascinated in keeping a fish tank but is facing opposition from my wife and in-laws now that our daughter showed signs of bad health. The fish tank by the way was my brother-in-law's which they thought to be the reason why his children (three out of four) got sick in 2001. Since it was set-up at their house, it was positioned in the middle of the living room (bad place according to articles I've read). Late before they abandoned the fish tank did they move it to their north wall of their living room.Best regards,Constantine
Staff Cecil Lee Posted February 14, 2002 Staff Share Posted February 14, 2002 Dear Constantine,1. Yes, from my personal experience with clients having problems with fish tank at the centre-point of the house. This has been mentioned in several of the past forum messages i.e. relating to health problems.2. In my opinion, your family members are correct to advise you to remove the fish tank at the balcony. This is because, (if I believe) that it is kinda of tall and not `flat' e.g. pond.3. When a fish tank is tall, it no longer `behaves' like e.g. clear space or provide clear space. Unlike a pond or a pool of water. In fact, it becomes or acts more like a mountain effect. Imagine, having a `mountain' right in-front of the balcony - where there should be clear space.4. Such `obstacles' can lead to health problems especially for the female - in the house.5. Furthermore, water when wrongly used... implies `difficulty' under the Book of I-Ching. 6. Fish tanks are popular especially for Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners to be used as a `CURE' to neutralise e.g. a lamp post and note: it is more of a cure than an enhancer. 7. Furthermore, water positions is bad for people who have e.g. weak fire elements (as it will further extinguish) their weak fire element. It is equally inauspicious to have water positions for a strong water person. As it will create further imbalance to the strong water person. 8. It is my sincere advise that you immediately drain off or remove the fish tank - ASAP. It does not really matter if the fish tank is considered at the balcony or within the home, here.9. In addition, if your house is built between 1984 to-date; check to see what room your daughter is sleeping in. In GENERAL, sectors to be cautious of is in east & south sectors - especially on the issue of health problems.
