i just began learning about feng shui through Lillian Too's 8 easy steps. but i keep hearing things that aren't included in the book (ex. prosperity corners). what i've done so far is calculate my kua number which is #1. i used that to determine my auspicious and inauspicious corners.
1. if south signifies fame and that is an auspicious corner for me, what is the next step?
2. i am a youngest daughter, which means that i belong in the west of the house. but my room is in the south and southeast. how does this affect my feng shui?
3. do i have to divide my room into 8 sections and place something of importance according to 8-house and put it there?
4. are there any particular color schemes that i should pay attention to.
5. how should i deal with auspicious corners?

Dear Marissa,
Currently, there is quite alot of talk regarding books written recently by
Lillian Too. In the Feng Shui Internet community; particulary the Western
Trational Feng Shui Schools mentioned their concern over what she is
teaching.
If one is new to Feng Shui and having read some of her books, would quickly
come to the conclusion that Feng Shui uses `fixed' templates. For example,
many people after reading her books thought that all Feng Shui is based on
Fixed stations of the Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations.
In my opinion, some Feng Shui authors resort to capitalize on the ' static "
Life Aspirations by `declaring' that North is career, South signifies Fame
etc... Such theories are harmful especially if we `eat and sleep' using
such theories only. It may prove harmful.
In the last 6 months, many novice Feng Shui users after reading such books,
go into Fast Food Feng Shui and started to place wind chimes, enhancing
their " Romance " corners. Feng Shui is far from this.
Real authentic Feng Shui is more importantly based on:-
1. Shapes and Form
2. Compass Schools: Both Eight House and Flying Star
3. The Five Elements relationship e.g. the element and its strength.
Nowadays, authors who seem to `preach' Fast Food Feng Shui can do more harm
than good to a person.
We constantly ask ourselve, if everything is fixed, can it apply to
individuals? For example, if everyone of your office colleagues start to
place a rose at the `Romance' corner, enhance the North or Career sector or
South = Fame sector can this work for all?
I would recommend that you read instead Derek Walters " Feng Shui Hand book
" with some important topics on the Five Elements. The way to go is to
understand equally the Yin and Yang Principle and the Five Elements concept.
These are stepping stones to understanding real Feng Shui.
All your questions below refers more to the " Life Aspirations or Eight
Aspirations ". As mentioned above, these are too general a theory to follow
in real Feng Shui.
I personally feel that you are better off, using your personal instincts
than to follow such a static theory. This static theory can be `followed'
after you have done all other Feng Shui analysis. Only when you have the
time or have nothing else to enhance, then you may if you want to use it. I
am not sure if it will help thou.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil Lee
