Dear Pamela,
1. What you brought up is quite an interesting subject.
2. Most of the time, if you had sought advise from Feng Shui practitioners, it seems that it is always a `No-no' to place swords.
3. Because symbollically it has sharp edges and for two reasons:-
Commonsense approach
--------------------
It is like having a loaded gun in the house. Especially with children around - may perhaps be considered safer, placing it away from them. E.g. in locked glass shelves.
The sharp edges of the swords
-----------------------------
Usually, this is not preferred as it symbolises disharmony.
4. Given the two, I would prefer to look at it from a commonsense approach as it may involve safety in the home.
For the second, sharp edges of the sword; usually, it is kept inside it's protective shield. So not a real issue. If one has seen Gong Fu films, even heroes and heroines sleeping with their swords nearby.
5. Therefore, in my opinion, do take into consideration - the commonsense approach. But if you do not have children or they are already grown up, there is really no harm in displaying the sword collection.
6. If you have a specific room, dedicated to the placement of your collection - much the better!
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
