Dear Cecil,
Below are some
questions which I would
greatly appreciate if you
could answer them :

When finding the four pillars
of destiny, if the heavenly
stem elements from the day of
birth combined with the stem
of day of birth to form the a
different element, for
example, Ding (yin fire - from
stem of hour of birth)
combined with Ren (yang water
?V from stem of day of birth)
to form wood element, does
that mean the stem of the day
of birth is now wood instead
of the original water
element?

When such a combination between different Heavenly Stem (Hour, Month, Year, Life or Conception) combines with the Heaven Stem (day), will depend on whether it is a Joint or a Full combination.
A Full Combination will change the element of the stem for both pillars to the new element. While a Join will not affect any change of the element for both pillars.
However, the change of element say the Day and Hour pillar change from Wood to Fire. Does not change the Birth element of a person. ie Weak Wood does not change to Weak Fire because of the combination. The combination will simply remove Wood from his chart making him weaker.

frequent do we need to clean
the Feng Shui objects in our
house and could we just use a
piece of clean damp cloth to
clean it? How about washing
them using the tap
water?

For many of my antiques, I often once a year or two or more years interval: use a basin and wash them in it.
However, for those who truly pray to figurines or had their eyes painted before, should not do it this way.
I know, people will say that washing it is washing away wealth. But, look at it this way, many figurines that I have are more than 100 years old. And, touch wood, they are still as good as ever.
I strongly believe, take any steps you feel appropriate in cleaning them.
If your figurines are left in the open and if they are porcelain, the most effective is a washing once every x months or years.

I have on the west sector a
white tiger and on the east a
dragon statue, which direction
must they face i.e. towards
the main door or other better
orientation?

"Wah" this type of Feng Shui also got? (Local slang) which says: What type of Feng Shui is this? *Joke*
Often you can use a pictorial analysis of the 4 symbolic animals i.e. East or the left is often the Green dragon and the right or the West is the white tiger.
Please note that even if you have such statues, make sure that they look friendly i.e. a plumb or majestic `smiling' dragon and a plumb or friendly tiger. Not a tiger that is eager to pounce!
If you do keep too fierce - an animal, it is often not favourable as this is symboilic of having frequent quarrels.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
