myfs_96595
I recently bought a picture frame of a cactus plant with 2 large red flowers. The picture is done by embroidery with silk threads, on a black background. The cactus isn't very obvious, just a hint of the shape with some white threads as the wispy spikes. I'm thinking of hanging it in my bedroom, facing the bedroom door. But some have told me it isn't a good idea to hang cactus plants/images in the bedroom and will harm my love life, among other things. On the other hand, others have said that cactus with flowers are quite rare and could even be seen as something precious. I would really appreciate some advice as I really like that embroidery and I can't it in other rooms as there's no more wall space left. Thank you very much. Staff Cecil Lee Posted September 23, 2003 Staff Share Posted September 23, 2003 Dear Soli,Often, we can look at it from three perspectives:1. Yin and Yang concept2. How thick skin are you?3. Human or Man Luck1. Yin and Yang conceptOften, because a plant is growing, it is considered as `more yang' than yin.And since, a bedroom is meant more for sleep (yin or rest); then, it is preferred not to have a live plant in the bedroom.2. How thick skin are you?Looking at the above: i.e. placing a plant in the bedroom; some of us have no issue living in a `jungle' with lots of plants or trees. While others are very sensitive. Therefore, it does not automatically mean that we must never have plants in the bedroom. It depends: On how sensitive one is or is not.I am sure if one is the "TARZAN" type; who grew up in the jungle; will certainly have no problem with plants or even tree(s) even in their bedroom. Again: How thick skin are you? (How sensitive or insensitve one is)3. Human or Man LuckWhat you had mentioned, to place a picture has more to do with one's psychology. Or one's personal taste. If one feels comfortable, even if there is a slight hint of cactus, there is really no issue; if you feel happy looking at the two lovely red flowers. If it brings `calm' to the person, why not.4. Often, we should not care what others think or say. If you like it, do it:)5. More importantly, our life on this earth is short! For example, it would silly, to follow advice e..g remove your TV set from the room. So far, we do not read - Mr X moved in to a new home, placed tv infront of the bed - and died watching TV!Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 9/23/2003 8:33:14 PM, Anonymous wrote:I recently bought a pictureframe of a cactus plant with 2large red flowers.
