myfs_100158
Hi,I was told by a friend that if you live in a HDB apartment, your unit's facing is the facing of the HDB block and no matter what you do to your own apartment you can't change the facing. Unless you change the facing of the HDB block. However, if your apartment is above the 9th floor, you are considered as living on top of a mountain and so your apartments facing can be different from the HDB block's facing. Is this true? Thanks
Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 26, 2004 Staff Share Posted January 26, 2004 Dear Simon,Frankly, there is no single right or wrong answer. Again, it depends! For example, a typical HDB 5 room point block has at least two "faces". And, also, some FS practitioners also consider the facing with the most light e.g. balcony even if it is lower than 9th floor. Therefore, to say that your friend is "totally" correct is not exactly - true. Another point is that maybe your friend got pointers from a book and then try to "practice" based on a personal opinion perhaps by some practitioners. Look at it this way, qi is affected by Hi and low pressure points throught the day. At a specific location with hi pressure, air rotates a certain direction. And low pressure causes air to rotate a different direction.Given this understanding, a particular facing direction e.g. a block may not necessary hold true, if one wants to investigate into a sub-section or a unit of an apartment.Again, if one is aware, many of the new apartments such as those winding or many of the new Punggol apartments where, the entire block circulates or surounds an entire rectangle area, then, the question is where is the frontage? Each flat within this "snaking" block has a different facing. And, a more reliable indicator could perhaps, be the balcony area. This in my opinion makes more sense. But again, IT DEPENDS!We should not get "smart alecks" to dictate or provide a god given "fixed" advise. this is rather foolish, it would seem.Warmest Regards,Cecil Quote On 1/26/2004 9:59:59 AM, Anonymous wrote:Hi,I was told by a friend that ifyou live in a HDB apartment, your unit's facing is thefacing of the HDB block and nomatter what you do to your ownapartment you can't change thefacing. Staff Cecil Lee Posted January 26, 2004 Staff Share Posted January 26, 2004 Dear Simon,Further to what I had mentioned, in-fact everyday while reading new messages posted to this forum is indeed a new learning experience.Given that no two situation are often alike, it is always foolhardy to use only YES or NO? (Is it true? type of question). In fact, there are many well documented cases of great lawyers who, can argue or fight cases, some of them, which may seem hopeless (to defend). Yet, these people can turn around "the jury".Thus, I can only say "It depends". Often, there is no right or wrong answers. It depends on how, one puts up his or her argument or logic to support their case.In Singapore, not all buildings have equal heights. Thus, can one quantify what one means by 9 storeys high. Some condos, with units at 6 or 7 storey high is literally as high as the 9th storey apartment. For example, some condos have very high ceiling. And if one studys "The Sterling" condo at Bukit Timah Road, the apex buildings are at the hill. And a 3rd storey apartment at this apex is as high as the 7th storey of a typical HDB apartment. To be frank, 9th storey can be quite subjective. Since, there is often no standard height per storey, given the above example. Again, the issue here is "It depends".Warmest Regards,Cecil
