Dear Cecil,
I would like to thank you for providing such an informative website especially on finding the facing direction of my apartment. I hope you could assist in the following as well:
1) Since I am living on the 10th Floor of my apartment, do I use the balcony to measure the facing direction instead as according to some books?
3) How do I divide my apartment according to the grid of Lo Shu and Flying Stars?
4) Can you advise my current apartment layout as per attached?
5) I was told to use a Red Lava Lamp to overcome the 3 killings from the South in my bedroom. Is this true?
I would like to apologise if I sounded vague but as a beginner I hope you can accommodate my shortcoming.

Yes, use the balcony.

Since your home is rectangular in shape, and for a novice, you can divide it into 9 equal grids.
For the pie chart, you can check this old resource:

If you are applying Flying Star Feng Shui, then, it is best to check the 20 Year Flying Star chart for that sector, plus the annual star at the sector.
For example, if the annual star has #2 or #5 or the 20 Year star chart has any of these, it may not be a good idea to add red to this sector. Since fire may further fuel bad earth #2 or #5. Equally, if there is a #9 (strong fire) at that sector, it may also not be a good idea to add red.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

thank you very much for your prompt reply. I feel more confident now to use the balcony as my direction. If I can further intrude on you, if I were to change from period 7 to period 8, some sources mentioned to change a new door, roof/ceiling and floor/carpet.
As such, do I change my entrance door to a brand new door or do I change the balcony sliding doors since my direction is based on the balcony's direction?
Thanks in advance.
brgds,
Vincent
