Hi there,
Large, bold vertical stripes on my clothing - will this generate sha(?) chi, or will it be good because the clothes mould to the lines of my body and/or they fold a bit, so they are actually wavy lines not straight, and thus generate sheng chi?
How do you work out what elements hybrid colours, materials and shapes are eg:
Colours:
yellow-green, purple, cream, clear(?water),
orange, very pale light blue, dark grey,
and in general other dark colours that are probably midpoint between black and some other elemental colour and those midpoint between white and some other elemental colour.
what about situations where you have equal
Shapes: pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, diamond
/\

, a square with a triangle on top of it, et c.
Materials:
glass, air, electricity, fur, leather, wind, synthetic cloth, plastic, canvas.

Dear cecil,
I have read couple of posting regarding this topic and you always reply saying that
these things are secondary. And one should
take care of personal element and flying star etc. But you never elaborate on the question asked. But you are forgetting something.
The west was introduced to feng shui
in the form of color and element and direction theory. That is the 8 aspiration theory. Nobody has heard of pillar of destiny and flying star theory. You will
ask how do I know this. Since there is no
book available on pillar of destiny and flying star in the west.
There are total of 66 books available on feng shui and out of 66 books 47 are based on 8 aspiration and 19 are 8 mansion theory by
Lillian too. So you see that is the reason
all the reader keep on asking the same question again and again. I wish you can just
answer the question which the reader asked
so that once they become familiar with flying
star theory your answer will make sense to them. Thanks.

Well, glad you have brought this matter up.
You see the easiest book to write is about shapes and forms and Eight house which are very static in nature allowing it easy for authors to write them.
However, what you are forgetting also is that in the Traditional Feng Shui do you know that these items are consider part of Feng Shui Evaluation tools:-
- Five Elements, Yin & Yang
- Face Reading
- Palm Reading
- Eight House
- Bagua Trigrams
- Zi Wei Dou Shu (Chinese Astrology)
- Pillars of Destiny
- Pillars of Name
- Feng Shui (Shapes and Forms)
- Flying Star
- I-Ching
- Yin Feng Shui
- & lots more
Normally an "authentic Feng Shui master" would have a good understanding of all these theories (although I can understand that not every can specialise in every area as there are a lot to learn an understand!) But they must be at least be fluent in to know which are important for a home audit.
But I am said to say that there many self-claimed "Feng Shui Master" these days don't know much about these.
Of which, majority of the books are on Shapes and Forms because they are easiest to teach.
But in reality, due to the misconceptions by many of these books, they have completely ignore many important areas of Feng Shui:-
- Shapes and Forms
- Flying Star
- Eight House
- Pillars of Destiny
As you can tell, we have been adding resources about these topics to the site for users to learn and understand.
However, it is not easy to come up with easy to understand theories. Thus, in order to simplify matters, we have came up with the computerised tools to assist everyone to do proper feng shui. And these tools allows a user to access nearly all areas of Feng Shui which is lacking in many books.
Due to our experience and contacts with many users, we realised that there are consultants out there who actually only do partial Feng Shui Audit for a person.
Example 1
=========
We have seen someone who do a Flying Star for the home, and had told them that their house is good and they should activate this and that. So they did, guess what? They ended up with problems.
Why? We found that the person was too strong in an element such as strong wood, and cures and enhancements such as fountains added actually caused them more problem then helping them.
Example 2
=========
We have users who told us that they were told to put this items (mirrors, crystal, fountain, etc) in places where they shouldn't. This practitioner only uses their intuition or so call qi. Again problems struck.
Why? After doing a Flying Star audit for them, we found that the mirrors and etc was placed in inauspicious areas.
Example 3
=========
We have users who told us that a consultant help them evaluate their home using only Eight House. After putting enhancements suggested, problems arose.
Why? We found the problem from pictures which they sent us about their home and found several sha qi not cured, which caused problems.
Example 4
=========
And lots more, if you do search on this forum, I think can see many more. So I will not elaborate on it any further.
---------------------------------------------
So doing a proper Feng Shui is not that easy. Sometimes problems are caused by Shapes and Forms, some are caused by incompatibility with elements and home, some are by Xuan Kong influence, and some are by Eight House, etc.
Our advice is that you have to be careful when you apply feng shui, and normally before we can really advice you, we need to have information from the correct reports or relevant details from users.
Many question asked sometimes are too general that there is no way to provide an all-for-one solution. This type of Feng Shui is what we call "Fast Food Feng Shui". It is not desired as many problems have arise from it.
And let me tell you it is more difficult to cure problems which occurs from wrongly activating the star or offending the grand duke etc. Often these can be more damaging than the original problems. Thus, even harder to enhance or cure as there are now added influences.
So please understand that, when we try to provide answers or advices, we do so with care and most of the time we need more specific info from the users in order to provide them the answers.
Also, as many users can tell, we are getting lots of questions from the forum and not to mention our own personal mails, so you may have to give us some time to provide answers to your question, especially those with very complex problems.
Remember that there is no ONE-CURE for all problems. Each person is unique and each problems is also unique.
We are providing more information about different theories, but these will take time. "Rome isn't built in one day."
Warmest Regards
Robert Lee

Actually, I personally find these rather unimportant. More importantly the colour is suitable for you, that is good enough for clothings. As for the lines etc, it is really up to your liking.

Generally you have to use your own personal judgement.
Items can sometimes be made of different elements such as plants are both wood and earth.
So similarly colour can also have to different elements such as yellow-red, which is earth and fire.
Then you have to see which is more, if more red then most likely fire.
Next important criteria is the shape takes precedence over colour.
