Dear Nicole,
1. Kitchen at the south compass direction.
If the kitchen is located at the compass direction -> south; this is the location of fire.
Given this situation, there is no issue with a stove facing a water position.
However, if the kitchen is located at the north, where north is the water sector, than, it would not be advantages, to have a stove facing the water position.
2. Facing direction of the stove
Since, the kitchen is suppose to be the "woman's domain". Nowadays, it can also be the "house-man" or house husband.
But traditionally, since this is the wife's domain, it is best that the stove faces the direction that is suitable for the wife.
3. Use of Mirror to correct the situation
3.1 What happens if one cannot relocate a stove which is facing e.g. a fridge.
3.2 A mirror or a reflective piece can be pasted onto the fridge facing the "flame" portion of the stove. Here, it is said that the stove is reflected back or the "warmth" is being reflected back.
4. Thus, for the stove, often check out the wife's best facing direction similar to that of the "work direction" when cooking.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Dear Cecil / Robert
In the kitchen section of your
Encyclopedia book, sometimes
you mentioned that it is good
to have the stove "located" in
the South section of the
house, and sometimes you use
the word "facing" South. My
stove is "located" in the
South section of the house,
but "facing" North. Is this
good or bad?
Also... the sink is facing
opposite the stove, BUT
separated by an island. Is
this OK? My husband is a
"fire" element.
Thanks in advance for your
advise
Nicole
