Please explain to me why Orange belongs to the Metal Element?

During the Chinese New Year celebration, it is common for individuals to bring two oranges when visiting friends or family. For the Cantonese community, oranges symbolize wealth and prosperity.

In Cantonese, the word for Orange is pronounced as KUM, which translates to GOLD.

Oranges are also considered as belonging to the Metal element by the Hokkien dialect group.

Hokkien dialect group also consider oranges as Kim or Gold.

This is the reason why Orange is linked to the Metal element.
