Staff Robert Lee Posted January 4, 2005 Staff Share Posted January 4, 2005 Dear Users,NOTE: Usually during the end and start of the new year, we are extremely busy as such there will be some delayed attending to the posts. In fact, you will noticed that we are reviewing the unverified which we may have missed. Doing a one time clean up to delete duplicate post as well as approving posts which we might have missed.Additional Updates to the original Post (5 Jan 2005)Fixed the Watch / Stop Watch TopicsMessage posted Last 60 days now only shows the new messages by grouping them as a single topic. (Rather than displaying each individual sub-message). The new read module display all the topics when read, so you need not read the individual postings anymore.Topic Header showing some of the emoticon tag codes (ie (notes), (angree) not removed properly.Original PostThe new PHP Webboard Forum Interface v1.0 is converted from our Perl Forum Interface to greatly enhance the usability and access performance.Though the previous Perl Forum Inferface was working fine. It was performing sluggishly especially with the increasing number of visitors to the website accessing the forum. As such I had spent the past few days converting the Perl Interface to the PHP Webboard Forum.Features PHP Webboard Forum Interface v1.01. Faster Forum Pages (for Forum List, Topic List)2. A new Read Post module was added so that once you view a topic, it displays all topics sorted from Last Post to Oldest Post. This PHP version also generates much faster than the original one.3. File Attachment count also added back to the Topic List so that messages with file attachment is more easily noticed.4. Many SQL coding refinments were added which improves the SQL access time.5. User Login have also been greatly improved. This allowed for more closer integration between the Members Area and Public Pages. You should noticed that once you login, the system remembers you the next time you access the forum pages (without further need to login again). Our existing forum software has very extensive features and database, thus it is essential that we keep those features and databasein place by enhancing the core forum interface and still continue to retain the original features. Hope you enjoy the various updates.Warmest RegardsRobert LeeGEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
