Hello Dr. Lee,

When leaving the marital home due to seperation and divorce, Would it be appropiate to take material possessions? minus garbage and donating to charity. How about the marriage bed and frame? less than 2 years old? or the bedroom suite ?Is there any advise to help the transition to a new life?

Also, issues with employment and updating skills, should I resolve prior to leaving or deal in new living accomadation?

Attempted to seek marriage counselling and spouse refuses.

This is really up to you. Personally, there isn't harm taking things that can still be used. Most of what you mentioned are mostly chinese beliefs if any. Probably the reason why you might not want to consider the bed and frame is so that it does not remind you of an unsuccessful marriage for example. So ideally, if you want to start a fresh it is best to get a new bed for example.

I think this is a separate issue. Probably it would be better if you deal in the new living accomodation so that everything start from fresh and give you enough time to settle everything before you focus on your work.

Unforunately, for any marriage to work, it requires two person each to give and take. If one party just does not want to do it, nothing good will ever come out of it. So might as well move on and seek new opportunities.

Hope that helps.

Warmest Regards
