Renovation during Chinese 7th Lunar month or [Ghost Month or Hungry Ghost Month]

Hi Master,

I have a few questions about renovating a new house:

1) can i start renovation during the 7th lunar month?

2) if i start renovation before 7th lunar month, can it end during the 7th lunar month?

3) can i move into the new house during the 7th lunar month? if not, is it ok to leave the house empty during the whole month?

It isn't advisable to start a renovation during the 7th lunar month. It is better to start before th 7th lunar month.

Yes, it can end during the 7th month. However, you should avoid visiting the place too frequently during the 7th month. Remember, that should you avoid bring anything into the house, if you did make sure you bring back.

Not advisable to move into the house during the 7th lunar month. It is best you wait until after the 7th month before moving in.

It is ok to leave the house empty during the month.

This year Chinese 7th month starts today (3 August) and ends on 31 August. No issue if renovation starts before 3 August and continues to 31 August 2016. Avoid moving house during the Chinese 7th month.

 

P.S. Chinese 7th month is from 3 Aug to end August. 8th month is 1 Sep
