RazzHi, I'm new here, I desperately need some advise on the issue of my open-air rooftop area:-

  1. I wish totransform this area to a garden with proper lanscaping, will this affect my house's feng shui negatively?

  2. I was told that both green & blue colours are not advisable for roof, do these mean that plants and water features are not good feng shui for rooftop area?

  3. If garden is alright for the rooftop, what kind of landscaping/ plants would your goodself recommend?

Please advise/ comment......Thank You very much!

Most houses typically have a solid tile roof. Thus, there isn't much true resources in the past about such a concept since there isn't such a situation in the past. So this is a more of a modern time situation.

However, my view of rooftop garden is actually good. Especially, because plants tend to act as shade for the roof. Thus, cools down the house. So garden for rooftop is fine. However, water feature on top of the roof will need to be avoided, as you do not want to have water over your head. This is like drowning your wealth.

What you just need to be concerned is the load of the plants and worry about any water leaks from the roof or any other possible issues that might arise from a garden located at the rooftop.

Natural greenery are ok. Blue especially water isn't advisable in terms of feng shui. In fact, it is a trend now-a-days to have garden on roof as it has been proven to cool down the house.

I think as long as you create a nice landscaping that you enjoy, it shouldn't be a problem. Furthermore, different people have different likes and dislikes. So my advise is just decorate it in such a way it relaxes and make you feel good.

Hope that helps.

Warmest Regards
