1) Initial Opeing of Doors for the first time (New HDB Flat)

There should not be much different from the initial doors procedure, except to leave out the faciliator portion. Our procedures are meant for condos or hdb.

2) Start to renovate a New HDB Flat

In generally, you want to knock the floor three times and say something like tothe the gods/deities in the house, apologise for any disturbance that will be caused by the renovation works.

Dear Jason,

In mdoern times, many people often bring along a hammer or ask their contractor to knock three times on a wall or floor to start renovations.

Often, many Cantonese (Chinese dialet group) would offer five types AND if countable 5 fruits to offer to the "5 spirits" of the home i.e. the spirit of the North, South, East, West and centre of the home.

Some with religious inclination may also offer two joss candles and burn paper offerings.

In a modern society` the above are general and practical trends to kick off start of renovations.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Question: May I know where is the best place to put all the items such as salt, oil, rice, huat kuay, pineapple etc after we brought them into the house and for how long we need to put it there?
The idea of bringing in the items are symbolic.

It implies stocking up essentials.

Thus, anytime, after bringing them in; they can be properly organized and stored in their respective places.

And to be used or consumed, anytime afterwards.

Thus there is no hard or fast rule to where to place them; but definitely after bringing them into the kitchen, one day must keep or place them in their proper shelves.
